The PRO-10G Does A Good Job
I'll be the first to admit that I'm paranoid about staying in Airbnb's because of the horror stories of people being recorded. I will feel much better now that I have my PRO-10G and SpyFinder Pro with me. This comes with two items. One is the SpyFinder Pro Hidden Camera Detector and the other is the PRO-10G. Both arrived the next day, (thanks Amazon) were packaged well and in a normal size box to help protect the items. I was so excited to open them up and give them a try. I took out the SpyFinder first and was actually disappointed because it felt really light weight and cheaply made. It comes with batteries and a screwdriver so you can start using it right away. The screw is extremely tiny and was already getting stripped just trying to get the battery in. I was able to get the batteries in with the screw still able to work, but I'm assuming that's why they provided two extra screws because they will strip and won't be usable after a few times. You have to use this as a view finder up to your face but it has bright red flashing lights and is really annoying to look through and actually gave me a slight headache. I had a hard time detecting if the SpyFinder was actually working correctly. You can turn down the brightness of the red flashing lights, which I did, but I still had a hard time finding my "hidden" camera. The PRO-10G in my opinion is much better. It comes with headphones, telephone cords, batteries , etc so you can start using it right away. The instructions are simple enough but I ended up doing a Google search to watch videos of people using it to get a better understanding on how to properly use it. This ended up helping me out a lot. I would recommend you do the same. The device doesn't seem as cheap as the SpyFinder. You basically turn it on and can put it on speaker mode or use it with the provided headphones. If the devices has all 10 lights lit up to red, then there is a listening device near by. You can hold down the Homing Switch to pinpoint the exact location. It is recommended that you turn off all Wifi, phones, etc so you don't get a false reading. I used my iPhone as a way to find a device and it worked. The only thing you have to be careful about is that it doesn't beep consistently so you'd have to sweep an area more than once. The price point of both items seems to be in the normal range of other sellers as well. Read more
