First - the radio I received is looking different than on the picture - and that is good, hence the one I have now is looking better and less flimsy. The dials for volume and stations are in a much more comfortable location - on the right hand side. The radio itself is reasonably built, but has a "blank switch" on top - presumably for another, more costly version that has both AM & FM (here missing). Reception is better than expected - only AM though and off course you have to work it - i.e. move the radio around until reception is clear. Sound is best at lower volume, but good when using earphones (need your own) at 2x mono. If this is your only small radio you want to purchase - look elsewhere, i.e. at a Sony "ICF-S10MK2" for less than 10.00 $$. However, if you want an OLD fashioned small radio as a collector or just as a reminder of the "good old days" - go for it. Besides, please note: This is NOT an Emergency Radio - the only reason the claim is based on is battery operation, and that is not enough to qualify for that type of radio, typically having NOAA Weather Alert Channels and other features, like LED light or so. Nevertheless, I give it 3 stars, because I like it they way it is bringing back memories of my first ever radio - with 4 transistors. Read more
