FUN!
Love this instrument. I can see where a professional percussionist might want a more expensive hand-made version, but this is just fine for me - occasional use in my recording studio. If you're recording with it, the sound hole on the bottom has a removable plug, which offers mic placement options. Resonates differently with and without the plug. Kinda heavy - about 6 lbs, but the resulting tone is deeper than others that might use thinner metal. The macramé looking sleeve is more for looks. Sounds the same with or without it. I took it off. Comes with nice carrying bag and accessories as pictured. Read more
A swell sound, then thump, thump!
This drum is attractive and comes equipped with a stand and cover and drumsticks. My first reaction was to marvel at its appearance because it is quite beautiful. When I started to practice playing I found it very hard to get a good sound from the drum. Some places produced a good sound; other areas did not. It seems to have been designed for beginners, and I am one, but I don't have anyone to ask around me for help in making this work well. Read more
Ease of enjoyment and mastery.
I absolutely love this item!! I've wanted one for over a year now, and this year my husband bought it for my birthday, which is New Year's Day, so needless to say, I brought in the New Year with the beautiful sounds created with my Steel Tongue Drum! I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to enjoy the peaceful sounds that this drum produces as you won't be disappointed. Read more
Great BUT
These are fantastic! BUT watch out they come with mallets and some of mine did not. I am not sure if its Amazon's fault or company. I bought some used ones and I think it was those. I got 5 and have 2 sets of mallets. Read more
Great Sound and a Quality Feel
Really cool tongue drum. I like that it is larger than most others offered. It has a great sound and is fun to play. The mallet is durable. I would like the carrying case to be more durable. The case is a very light cream color which means it gets dirty easy. Makes a great gift though and sounds like a quality instrument. Read more
