First: Everything is well packaged. HOWEVER, the decorative band comes in a bag, not on the drum. I like the drum without the decorative band - it is just a dust collector. The mallet heads are not attached to the sticks so you have to do some assembling - small pieces & 75-year-old hands not a good mix. The plug for the bottom does not fit - does not stay in place. It has no tension and is not very pliable. I often put rubber balls/bells inside my drums to change the sound. Can't do that with a faulty plug--everything falls out. The drum is beautiful. It sits on a table beside my desk. I play it often. The sound is like a bell - all tongues tuned perfectly, key of C. This drum does not cause feedback through my hearing aids. It does not hurt my ears - the tone is perfect. It comes with a zippered case for storage or transport and a beginner music pamphlet. I have more expensive and less expensive drums - the sound makes the Aklot my favorite. Definitely worth the price. Read more

Absolutely love this steel tongue drum. I’m no musician, but every tongue key sounds perfectly in tune and make a beautiful sound. My daughter has special needs (autism, cognitive disability). She is largely uninterested in gifts and tends to enjoy the bow more than opening the actual gift. This was a gift she actually engaged with! She enjoyed playing it with my help. I will mention that I do have to keep a close eye out that she does not put the stick in her mouth to chew the rubber ball. It comes off and is a serious choke hazard. So note that for young kids. This drum sounds great and is easy to play for someone non musical. I will say that a few tabs sound more "dead" than the others which really resonate a beautiful tone. I'm a musician who has been playing the guitar and ukulele for more years than I care to admit. Recently became interested in tongue drums and after some research bought the 12" Aklot. Honestly thought that anything that cost under $50 would be junk, but I was wrong. The drum is beautiful to look at and built like a tank. First thing I did was to make sure all the tongues had good tone when struck, then set about testing the tuning. Took a while to realize that the sympathetic ringing from the neighboring tongues was affecting my tuner, but once I muted the two tongues closest to the one being tested all was well and happy to report all tongues in proper tune! By the way, this model is in the key of C, 440hz standard tuning. Thanks to the decals on the tongues, its easy to see what note each tongue is. Using some simple music theory I quickly started making beautiful music. Be aware that this drum requires using the included mallets to make a good sound. My only complaint is using just your fingers is not enough to get any decent tones out of the drum and I do not care for the finger picks. The drum now sits on my coffee table in the Florida room and I play it constantly. Are there better and more expensive tongue drums available? Of course, but at this price its a steal and a wonderful introduction to this fascinating and extremely pleasing instrument. Bring some magic to your life and let this drum mesmerize you. Peace.
