I bought this for my kids controller for the Xbox to connect their headphones to so they are not damaging the port on the controller. This is not the first one I have bought. No mic monitoring
It just doesn't have mic monitoring you can't hear yourself. If you record with elgato it wont pick up your voice. But it does allow you to mute and change volumes fine Read more

It WORKS!
I have an Xbox series S which came with a wireless controller. Bought a headset that works well but covers both ears. So wanted a Chat Headset so I could hear whats going on around me. I purchased three different chat headsets. Everyone I could chat with but could not hear through the ear piece. All chat coming in went through the TV. I was very distraught. Then saw this adapter, so bought it to try, not expecting it to make a difference. But BINGO the Chat Headset works beautifully.
