In reading the glowing reviews, I thought I found a winner here — but no! Perhaps this bottle is bad? Much as another reviewer stated, the taste is weird compared to other pure monk fruit powders I've tried. It is brownish in color, and the sweetness simply isn't there. The first pure, clean monk fruit powder I tried was nearly white. As it stated, it is about 8 times sweeter than sugar, as I would measure 1 teaspoon (accurate measure) of sugar in my drink (coffee, flavored water, etc.), and this first monk fruit powder made it equally sweet with 1/8 teaspoon (measured). But it was very difficult to mix into non-hot drinks. So I tried a second pure monk fruit powder. It was a little cheaper, but with the same sweetness claims, and additionally that it dissolved easily in cold water as well. It does. And it's close to white (in the attached picture) — BUT — it takes 3 × 1/8 teaspoons for the same sweetness, making it more expensive than the first in the end. I find the taste of the first two to be clean — more or less just a sweetener without altering the flavor of what I'm adding it to. So, when I saw this one — even lower in price — pure — also stating it is 8 times sweeter than sugar and dissolves into cold liquids easily — I decided to try it, even with the low review count of 11 reviews. However, this stuff is very dark compared to the others and has a strong flavor and smell to it. It's earthy. It almost reminds me a little of molasses. And the sweetness just isn't there. I tried it in a cup of hot drink (16 oz), and it did dissolve easily, similar to the second monk fruit I tried — so I think it would likely dissolve in cold water well too — but I didn't try it. I put in 1/8 teaspoon — nothing — other than the flavor it added to my drink, there was no sweetness. I added a second 1/8 teaspoon — nope — just a stronger flavor and no sweetness. I added a third 1/8 teaspoon — same — stronger odd flavor and no sweetness. I added a 4th 1/8 teaspoon! The flavor was getting overpowering and still no sweetness! I stopped at this point. I do not like this flavor it is adding to my drink at all, and it would be very expensive if I have to add a teaspoon or two to get the same sweetness as 1/8 teaspoon of the first monk fruit I tried. I was very disappointed. I really want a flavorless, clean, pure monk fruit that dissolves easily in non-hot liquids and is good in cost. So far, I haven't found it. Then, I dislike this so much — and I don't think it meets the claim of 8 times sweeter than sugar — I decided to return it. Well, you can't! No returns. Not even if it's misrepresented, damaged, nada — simply no returns accepted due to it being a food item. BS! It would be one thing if it were simply something new to try and you didn't like it — but it is not 8 times sweeter than sugar. It tastes totally different than the others I've tried (including pure monk fruit liquid). It's either false advertising or a bad batch — in either case, those issues should warrant a return or at least a refund. Luckily, taking the time to go through Customer support, I got this refunded as I don't have the money to waste. Thank you, Amazon! So, as it stands, I cannot recommend this at all. If I got a bad batch — that's not good. They don't have this product set up to allow addressing that without jumping through unnecessary hoops, as you can't go through the normal return/refund process — it won't let you. In the worst case, it's simply bad marketing/advertising — selling this as something it is not — and the return/refund process would not allow that either — simply no returns/refunds. This Matcha Powder is by far the BEST. It desolved nicely without clumps being at the bottom of your cup. It is smooth, light, silky, smells and tastes delicious. This is the worst monk fruit I’ve ever bought. It’s not sweet at all and is supposedly 100% monk fruit no additives. There’s another brand on Amazon that is amazing and is 100% pure so I have no idea what is wrong with this product. Don’t buy. Read more
