So, yesterday I spent my 3D printing time making a toolbox. I’m assuming I’m in the majority that this is probably the 12th box I’ve printed because I just haven’t found the perfect one… or I do find the perfect one and after 1 minute of use, my hinge snaps. Maybe it’s just me. I have no idea. Anyway, back to the toolbox I’m currently idealizing. It prints fine and I’m back to the hated task of taking the teensy tiniest Allen wrench and forcing 3mm wide screws into plastic. This task takes me about 20 minutes as there are eight of them. At this point, I need to confess to you that around the 4th or 5th screw, I realize I have put the top on backwards. I push on. I finish and hand it off to someone else, as I know what I’ve done and this toolbox can never make my dreams come true. I ask ChatGPT, “can I buy the tiniest drill bit and the tiniest drill?” I am not mechanically inclined (if you didn’t pick up on that already) so I fully know if I put the tiniest drill bit on a regular impact driver, I’m impacting that screw all the way through that box faster than you can say, “oh no, I’ve used too much torque again.” AI tells me I need an “electronic precision screwdriver,” gives me some reputable names and the specs that I need for 3D printing tasks. Unfortunately, the reputable names that have been around for decades precede 3D printing and are actually horrible choices, due to the low torque. So off I went to look for the highest torque in the smallest tool with the specific drill bits. It’s a tough job but I did it for you. And I got overnight delivery because this box was now renting all of my mental space, obviously. Fellas, you know how it is. 😏 I will give you some help here: the internet says you need “H2” for “M3” screws (sure, universe, that makes sense) and that’s true… sometimes. If I would’ve bought the one that only had H2, I’d be writing a whole different review right now. But I bought this one, that has lots of H’s, including the 2.5 that I actually needed to remove the screws from my upside down project. Thinking I was the most clever, I removed them all (I had to use the highest torque setting to get one of them out) then found out I did need the H2 to put in the new countersunk ones. Yes, I know what that means now. I dropped the torque way down screwing them in, and now have a correctly finished box and no faux arthritis or banged knuckles.
