As someone with a relatively smaller head, I really appreciate how the hat has a drawstring to adjust the size. It kept me from worrying about ordering the right size and the hat does fit as I was hoping it would. The hat's brim is fairly wide. If I was looking for a purely fashionable hat, I would say it was too wide for me, but from a functional perspective I really like that aspect. The brim looks a little large when I wear the hat since it hangs over the top of my eyes a small amount, but it works really well to block out rain. I wore the hat under my helmet when I was riding my bike in the rain, and it did a nice job keeping the rain out of my eyes and keeping my head dry. It terms of keeping me warm, the hat does feel like it's nicely insulated. It keeps the top of my head cozy when it's cool outside. However, the edges of the hat don't hug my ears. Instead, it hangs over top of them. So, although the hat blocks out the wind and rain it doesn't do much to keep my ears warm in cold air. One of the things that I like most about the hat is how lightweight it is. It's easy to throw in my bag and forget about it until I need it, because it takes up so little space. I've ordered so many other bucket hats and returned them because they looked so weird and puffy in all the wrong places. They had packing bags built in and I wanted to like them but ultimately they all looked terrible on me. This hat's quilting and slightly thicker materials made it a winner. It was packable (I just rolled it up) and held its shape easily. It still looked good even after spending most of the day shoved in a bag. I ordered this winter bucket hat for travel to European Christmas markets this past December. It arrived and is decently well constructed. I have a big head and was pleased to find that the bucket hat style fit just fine. I packed it up and off I went. While traveling through Switzerland, France and Germany, I did not see a single other bucket hat anywhere. I'm not a terribly fashion conscious person, but...I caved in and never wore it there opting for a hooded coat instead. Until this style catches hold even a little bit, I think I will limit my earring to things like being out in my own yard. I think the design makes sense to have a 360* brim to keep off rain, sleet and snow, but that little tug of being oddly out of step stills bothers me a bit. Read more
