I Purchased this item in red. The photo of the item showed a rich red color with clear embossing on accents. The description claims this is cowhide leather. The item received was a nice dark red color, but the embossed areas are shiny, highlighted with some kind of gold wash. The material appears inferior; its appearance and a strong nauseating chemical odor make me question whether this "leather" is a genuine animal product. The shoe seems the correct size but does not fit or mold to the foot as real leather would. A third-party seller sells this item; the only option is to wait for a return label (supposed to be sent within 5 days) and then credit my account when the item is received. Hopefully, there will not be any problems. UPDATE: The seller contacted me quickly to address my issues, so I am upgrading my review based on their quick response. The seller insisted the shoes are genuine leather and that the offensive odor should dissipate within a week. Upon examining the shoes again I accept the leather is genuine, but in my opinion is poor quality for the price. I accepted the offer to keep the shoes and receive a refund, mostly because it saves me the hassle of the return process. I'll wait to see if the odor improves. Read more

THEY ARRIVED WRAPPED IN PLASTIC BAGS—no box. They are beautiful and feel good on. I bought them 1/2 size bigger to err on safe side, because they showed a thick lining. The fit is good, but I have 2 issues with them: (1) these are NOT leather as described and (2). They stink! They have a very strong chemical smell which is not uncommon usually for lower quality pleather and other man made products. Real leather has a distinct odor that smells good. To prevent my closet from stinking, I have them in the garage airing out hoping the smell will go away. They deserve 1 star for the awful stink and 5 stars for beauty. Read more
