I got this to protect an expensive bidet. The surge protector is surprisingly compact and lightweight but still feels well built. A discrete blue LED indicates that it is receiving power. I can only assume it provides true surge protection. It plugs into the wall receptacle securely without blocking the second outlet (at least the 490 joule version doesn't) and the bidet plug seats into the surge protector firmly.
