Tldr: I recommend this tape as a painter’s masking tape and as a general purpose go to cheapie household tape. It’s washi tape which imo is much better compared to crepe tape which is what painter’s masking tape is made of, and regular masking tape. The tack is not as aggressive on porous surfaces. Okay as a painter’s tape it’s great it’s fine for doing painter’s tape stuff. But I also use painter’s tape around the house because painter’s tape is the best combination of cheap and not super sticky. So I use it to label leftovers or picture hanging lines or cut lines on wood or where to arrange furniture. Literally anything. Regular masking tape is way too sticky so I would have to deal with residue and/or damaging the surface. Drafting tape is less sticky masking tape but it’s too expensive to use willy nilly like normal masking tape. And then there’s washi tape which obviously I love since I ordered this, but normally it comes in tiny rolls because it’s been trendy to use to decorate stationary. To be honest I haven’t looked very much for larger rolls like this but that’s why I got the bulk 20 pack because large washi tape is literally my dream because it’s not as aggressive as even typical painter’s tape. I only wish it wasn’t the typical painter’s tape dark blue so it would be easier to see writing on it, but it performs just as well as the name brand crepe painters tapes, and is much more affordable than those and low tack crepe drafting tapes. SWRT please come out with more colors, like white or pastel for labeling, I would buy a 20 case of that easily! This is literally giant washi tape, so it does all the amazing things washi tape does and it’s an amazing value compared to the tiny pencil case sized rolls at the stationary store. It’s also an amazing value compared to name brand crepe painter’s tape in general. I’m an architect so I’ve used a ton of tapes at work and at home and for hobby projects. I’ve always liked washi tape because it’s the lowest tack and releases the most cleanly on porous surfaces which usually end up being some kind of paper or wood (especially vintage and antique with fragile finishes). You can see in my pictures I got out my collection of similar tapes to compare. This is in order of the adhesive’s tack: Light purple washi tape SWRT tape (this product) One drafting tapes (white low tack crepe) Two name brand painter’s tape (blue medium-ish tack crepe) Name brand masking tape (beige high tack crepe) I was finishing a wooden planter box at the time so I decided to stick the tapes on that to see how they peel up. They’re fine. So comparable with the name brand at that point. And finally my most satisfying experiment was using the tape to mask off an area of grimy cabinet to see how sharp the demarcation lines were. I had done this with a name brand painter’s tape before, I included pictures of both. So all in all this is a great value pack. Every tape has a use, I just personally prefer washi tape for most of mine so I’m so glad I can actually use a painter’s tape made of washi tape that’s even cheaper than all the other tapes I own. This is an awesome blue painters tape. It is very comparable to what's on the market. It sticks to the doors and other areas that I am putting it on without any issues. The adhesive is good as it does not comes off unless you remove it. Moreover, there is no residue leftover when you peel it out. Size wise, it is 1 inch in wide and 55 yards per roll. This is more like oversized washi tape than traditional aggressive painter’s tape, which is exactly why it works well on delicate surfaces. The adhesive is lower tack, so it removes cleanly without pulling paint or leaving residue, especially on finished wood or cabinets. It still creates sharp paint lines when pressed down properly. Because it’s less sticky than standard masking tape, it may not be ideal for rough exterior surfaces, but for indoor trim, labeling, and light-duty masking, it performs well. I went through a lot of painter’s tape recently while freshening up a few rooms, so having a 20 roll pack on hand was actually really convenient. The 1in width is a good all around size for trim, baseboards, and edging along ceilings. It tears cleanly and lays down smoothly without wrinkling. I used it on painted drywall and some finished wood trim, and it stuck well while I was working but peeled off without pulling paint or leaving residue. As long as I pressed the edges down firmly, the paint lines came out crisp with minimal bleed. It feels thinner than some standard masking tapes, which helps it conform better to corners and slight texture on the wall. For larger projects or if you’re painting multiple rooms, this bulk pack makes sense. It looks like tape, but it is not tape. One of the big advantages of painter's tape is that it sticks to a surface and can be removed and re-used. This tape is barely sticky, falls off whatever surface it is applied to, and refuses to stick to anything ever again. Stick just itself to a painted wall? Kind of sticks, falls off when you're not looking. Stick a sign to a wall? Nope, falls off immediately. Stick a fabric tablecloth to a plastic table? No, not doing that. Be a label on a plastic bag? Nope, can't write on the slick surface and it won't stick. I have yet to find a single thing this tape can successfully accomplish.
