Awesome Rugged, Weather Resistant, Comfortable
Quality, design, ruggedness, weather resistant, all around usefulness certainly includes dayhikes, and 3 - 4 day backpacking excursions (expandable & with compression straps), with options for attaching a sleeping pad and/or other camping gear. Shoulder straps well cushioned/aerated. The chest strap can be removed from where it's located to a much higher and more comfortable position (take a good look, you'll see how). The pack has an absorbent and cushioned back, and I've found it very effective while hiking in heat and humidity. True, not padded with visible aeration, yet performs well without getting sweaty wet and is very comfortable, and dries incredibly fast. A few years ago, a friend gave me a very similar pack and it became my main backpack for good reasons. I gave that away after serious use, and wished I had retained it. I am an avid hiker/backpacker, wildlife biologist, and naturalist, who practices and teaches wilderness survival which I rather refer to as Connecting with Nature, not struggling to survive in it, and also a Nature photographer. Finally found this pack in ACP (prefer multicam for gear/clothes, yet didn't find in this camo) and it is awesome. It is very rugged and weather ready, tested and proven. Buckles and zippers are good quality. In the reviews, some features aren't realized, for example the large flap over the zipper for main compartment is an asset in wet weather, not an obstacle for unzipping. The waist belt may be slightly high, yet with moderate to heavy loads, sits okay, and it can be sewn about 1 to 1 1/1" lower for a better fit if needed. Also, the zippers can be prevented from opening below any point by sewing a few stitches on and across the zipper to a chosen height, thereby preventing unzipping and exposing contents in compartments to possibly falling out along your journey. The other quick and go option to secure your zippered compartments is to thread the double zippers into each other, see photo, something I do with any backpack zipper anyway. Awesome backpack. One more point, I purchased this at $32.98, and ended up paying for shipping, you can buy this pack on Amazon through a different provider for $35.98 or slightly more and save a few bucks overall by not paying for shipping, so maybe some tborough research may benefit your purchase.
