This mechan8cal scale by Tada is a great addition to my science classroom. It is made of metal with plastic dishes. It can measure up to 200 grams which is perfect for experiments! It has included weights for experimentation and calibration! If you put it on a flat surface and put one of the included 20g weights on each side, there is an adjustment knob to easily calibrate the scale. There is and indicator dial with a pointer, A sliding weight rider on a beam scale and each side has a balancing nut. The scale has only a 0.2g sensitivity! To measure the weight of something, put it on one side and add as many weights as you can on the other without going out of balance...and use the sliding scale to hone in on the weight. I wanted a balance scale like this to help reinforce weight concepts for my elementary-aged daughter. This one is perfect. When you remove the black supports from under each side, it starts moving freely and it's very easy to use and read (I didn't remove the protective plastic from the measurement needle in these photos). I also like the included weights because they're easy to use and to see how to balance it. The bonus is the green color, which matches the color of our schoolroom well. Read more
Fairly nice scale made from aluminum alloy and other metals. The trays are plastic. The balance is adjustable, as well. The weights are accurate as I measured them independently on a digital scale used for reloading, which much be precise. This seems sturdy enough for demonstrating weighing materials, but I do not think it would last in a classroom with daily abuse. Subpar quality. I ordered it for decor, and it turned out to be an ugly mess of metal and plastic that looks cheap and feels flimsy. The product is very lightweight, it does appear like a toy or cheap prop. Too many plastic parts. Metal parts look rough, unfinished, and poorly-manufactured. The zeroing screws on the sides are very loose -- they move if you sneeze. The sliding balance weight in the middle is clamped on quite loosely, yet it is hard to move because of rough surfaces rubbing together. Surprisingly, the weights are quite accurate despite also being rough. I measured them using a high-precision scale and they are within 0.2% of their values. Functionally, the scale works, but it is not convenient to use because of the above-described downsides. Not recommended. Read more
Good scale for the price. I use it to accurately balance knife scales, and RC drone/plane parts I fabricate. Easy to get them both to zero via the adjustable nuts on each side. The provided weights are nice for having as standard for comparing weights. Read more

this scale seems to be decent quality construction and materials. when comparing measurements on this scale with a digital one, everything read virtually the same. in a grid down, power out situation, this scale could come in handy really quickly. Read more
