About this item

  • 【High-Performance Dual DAC Chip, High-Fidelity Sound Quality】LUNA features two CS43198 DAC audio decoding chips, commonly used in flagship-level players. It employs independent op-amp chips for each left and right channel, achieving higher resolution. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) exceeds 132dB, while the signal-to-intermodulation distortion ratio (SINAD) reaches 118.5dB, keeping distortion at a mere 0.000139%. Supporting high-resolution 32-bit/768kHz and DSD256 playback.
  • 【Flagship-Class Player Output Performance】LUNA employs a high-performance independent power supply architecture, delivering ultra-low-noise positive and negative power supplies alongside low-dropout linear regulator technology. This enables high-precision, high-output current drive, delivering powerful, concentrated sound comparable to flagship-class players.
  • 【Dual Output Terminals】LUNA features a 3.5mm single-ended output and a 4.4mm balanced output terminal, making it compatible with a wide variety of earphones. The included Type-C cable ensures LUNA is compatible with a wider range of mainstream devices. It can be used with Android smartphones, iPhones, iPads, PCs, laptops, and more. LUNA's chassis is precision-machined from a single piece of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, making it robust and highly impact-resistant.
  • 【Switchable DAC Output Stage Amplification Mode】LUNA's DAC output operation mode can be switched between Class AB mode and Class H mode. Class AB amplifiers are widely used in the hi-fi audio field due to their excellent linear characteristics and stability. Class H amplifiers, on the other hand, offer relatively high efficiency. Users can switch the DAC amplification mode according to their actual needs.
  • 【High-Purity Single-Crystal Copper Silver-Plated Cable Core Material】The USB 2.0 Type-C cable included with LUNA employs single-crystal copper silver-plated material for its cable core. Structurally, the digital signal transmission lines and power supply lines are independently shielded by a copper-silver-plated shield layer and then arranged in parallel, achieving superior interference resistance and shielding effectiveness.

Expensive, but quite nice

The build quality feels nice and robust; it doesn't feel cheaply made at all. As far as audio quality, this amplifier sounds great, and I'm very happy with it in that regard. It works very well if you have a phone that only supports USB-C, and its support for 4.4mm jacks is a nice addition as well (though I don't think many users besides true audiophiles with specialized equipment will necessarily need this jack). As for use with a computer (that doesn't natively support USB-C), this amplifier is packaged with a USB-C to USB-A adapter. It seems to work fairly well, but for whatever reason, it requires that the USB-C cable is plugged in a specific direction. If it's plugged in the wrong way, the adapter doesn't work at all. This seems to somewhat defeat the point of USB-C, since it's meant to be able to work regardless of how you plug it in. However, otherwise, the adapter works just fine. Overall, I think this amplifier is quite nice, but it's definitely on the expensive side. While I recommend it for its very high quality audio and small form factor, there might be other comparable options out there as well that are cheaper. Read more

Excellent sound, very natural without any digital glare

Tanchjim did a lot right here. Straight off... it sounds amazing. Pairing here with the Campfire Trifecta and my goto DAC is the iFi Go Bar Gold. Will compare in a bit. Unboxing is as I've come to expect from Tanchjim--clean, upscale, no hassle. It's like that even with the Bunny, which is also amazing. Like the Bunny, the Luna will store the settings on the DAC from the app, though there's not a lot there. You can change some filters including NOS, and AB vs. Class H mode. Neither had an appreciable difference with SQ for me, though I'm sure AB pulls more power so I'll likely keep it on H. In terms of pros and cons, here they are... The good: Black background with no audible hiss or noise floor, highly resolving, natural sounding, very good build, this little cable is genius, powerful output on balanced The bad: Pricing might put it out of the running, it is natural but also a little too controlled or clinical, bass is good but it doesn't add any warmth, this mirror finish (curious to see how that holds up over time), lack of onboard anything aside from volume control Back to this cable tho. I don't know why splitting the power from the data isn't more of a thing... I think this is genius for anyone serious about audio. It's stiff, ya, but I want to use this cable on everything just because of the split. The first cable I remember seeing like this was from Curious, but it was a full sized usb. Gimmick or not, I'm into it. Now, vs. the iFi Go Bar Gold. Not fair because that was over 3x the price, but the Gold Bar has some key differences over the Luna. The Go Bar has filters you can change directly from the DAC, IEMatch which creates an equally black background with sensitive IEMs, has a bass boost that is noticeable and has saved a few iems for me, crossfeed, and the build quality is no comparison. The Gold Bar is a solid hunk of metal and while this might be metal, too, the weight difference is noticeable. Maybe that's a plus for some because the Luna is light. So, I wouldn't go off anyone saying this is bass light. It's natural and reveals the IEMs signature. If you have a bassy set like the Trifecta here or like an Empire Ears, it will be bassy. If you have a bass light set, don't expect the Tanchjim to add anything that wasn't there to begin with. Because of the price of this, pairing would likely be on $500+ iems... Mega5, Monarch, Supernova, Titan, etc. Definitely worth consideration. Read more

Clear audio in a small package

Installed this with a phone and laptop setup to test the sound difference right away. The audio comes through clean and detailed, with enough power for most headphones in this size range. It’s compact and easy to carry, which makes it convenient for daily use. The USB-C port setup can limit certain configurations, so compatibility matters. For the price, it competes well with more expensive options in terms of sound quality. It’s best suited for listeners who want strong performance in a small package without stepping into much higher price brackets. Read more

Incredible sound quality and power for such a small device

This amp is quite impressive. I tested this out with a standard PC USB A port with my Sennheiser HD 6XX's. Compared to my Motu M2 headphone amp, this is impressive. It's able to drive these headphones to their max. There's still lots of power in the low end frequencies as well. The sound quality is overall very good. I can't really discern any difference between my larger desktop amp and this. There's volume control on the device itself, but no indicators to let you know what level it's at. That's the only thing I'd like to see changed. The unit is also very small which is fantastic for portability. Has a strong metal housing. No battery, this is powered from the device. Plug and play with Windows. Read more
