I ordered this set in my usual medium and the fit is…complicated. The top is loose and cropped, and the elastic running the entire perimeter of the neckline makes it easy to wear either as a square neck or off‑the‑shoulder. On me, wearing it OTS adds much‑needed length, letting the top float over the elastic waistband of the shorts. The shorts themselves feel as true‑to‑size as a thin elastic can be; the hips fit regularly (neither loose nor tight); the thighs are loose; and the rise is long enough that I have to wear the waistband high—another reason the OTS neckline works better for me. The color of my set does not match the seller’s photos. Where the listing shows a lake‑blue set with pale, creamy yellow trim, the one I received leans more navy and white. It’s still a cute set, but the color difference is noticeable enough that shoppers should be aware. The fabric is 100% cotton, which means no built‑in stretch beyond the elastic casings. Because it’s pure cotton, expect the usual cotton behavior after washing: a little shrinkage on the first wash (mostly in length), gradual softening with wear, and some fading over time—especially in darker colors like this navy. Cold wash and air dry will help preserve both the fit and the color, and turning the pieces inside out slows the fading that cotton is known for. This outfit is so adorable, and perfect for broad-shouldered women like me. The top is relaxed, flowy, and slightly cropped so it stops right at the waist, at least on me. But what I absolutely love the most about the top are the puffy sleeves. I have broad shoulders and puffy sleeves usually look ridiculous on me. These fall in such a way that they are obviously puffy yet feminine looking instead of brash or over the top. The shorts are loose fitting with an elastic waist and a drawstring, and includes pockets. With the ruffles, the inseam measures about 3 inches. I ordered this in navy, which has a cream colored accent ruffle. I love the combination of these two colors, and I find the fabric lightweight and breathable, too. It’s 100% cotton, so after washing and air drying, this could do with a light iron should you want a crisp look, but you could easily get away with not ironing this. For reference, the photos I have attached to my review show the garment after it’s been washed. Washing this for me was fairly simple: gentle cycle, cold water, air dry. There was no fading or shrinkage. I also like the versatility of this set. The two pieces can be worn separately, of course, but this can also be worn as PJs, a casual summer outfit, or even a dressy summer outfit with the right accessories. I ordered this in medium and wear a women’s US size 10 dress and pants. I have many articles of clothing from this brand at this point, and I find their sizing incredibly consistent, across the brand itself, and across other brands I wear. This outfit fits perfectly! I’m also happy with the overall quality of the garment. All the stitching is consistent and strong, including the ruffle accents and the elastic gathering at the waist, sleeves, and neckline. It's because once I started to 'get into' my review of this cute set of beach-wear/recreational type outdoor garments, it suddenly dawned on me that I had previously reviewed (perhaps a year ago, or so) a five star-rated blouse (for my wife's pleasure) by this very same Amazon vendor. I instantly remember just how successful that acquisition was, as the wife still wears it to work from 'time-to-time'. And now comes along yet another item that I coincidentally selected, from many my other competitive Amazon offerings, that I was equally attracted to as the last variant we acquired. The point here being that after formulating so many reviews, one gets a feel for certain types of 'goods', a feeling that stays within the mind to the point of recognizing the unique creativity of a particular designer/manufacturer/vendor. So, accordingly, without 'further ado', forthcoming are some of the features of this product that my wife and I both feel are most noteworthy to share with viewers possibly contemplating the purchase of such: 1) However complimentary I might be about this seller's women's wear products, this item, currently under my review, does indeed possess some inevitable shortcomings that often appear even in the best of many a designer's work. In this case, for instance, the seller's selection of a super-basic, 100% cotton fabric material is, in this day of so many superb top quality fiber mix combinations, is kind of 'shock' to me. The failure to blend merely a percentage of cotton with other more 'exotic', forgiving fibers, along with today's almost obligatory inclusion of the 'almighty', stretchable Spandex solution for 'wiggle-room' comfort, is quite surprising. Not only does it severely impact the wear-ability of such a garment, what with its susceptibility to the many wrinkles this item promotes with its lightweight cotton makeup, the laundering maintenance aspect becomes a great more burdensome. Ergo, ironing before each washer/dryer cycle becomes inevitable if one wishes, as my wife indeed does, to look the very best each time it's worn. 2) With that bit of negativity having thus been dispensed with, on the more favorable side, the wife tells me that the sizing in her instance, with her 5' 3", 130 pound 'frame', has turned out to be impeccable what with her 'M" (medium) selection. Other online feedback has suggested that these items run a bit 'small', so perhaps some special attention should be given to this potential issue before purchase. 3) This vendor not surprisingly offers no fewer than seven snappy-looking color variations. IMO, all of them look dandy, including the chic beige-colored number my wife chose. 4) As the aforementioned critique mentions, laundering includes machine washer dryer capability, but at the potential 'expense' of heating up the iron each time before continuing to wear it wrinkle-free. 5) We both love the elastic-adorned puff sleeve design details, along with the convenience and comfortable inclusion of the elastic bordering on the neck and sleeves areas. 6) Although a bit flawed what with the previously mentioned 100% cotton inclusion, we still feel this somewhat adorable-looking set merits a 'good' four stars' rating, but with a one star 'penalty' from a top five stars' rating owing to that fiber material selection.
