A 6 plug Smart Surge protector by Tapo

Cass Marieโ€”January 22, 2026โœ“ Verified purchase

It is nice to see the plugs were a bit farther apart to fit todayโ€™s larger power bricks, but can still use a bit more room. That seems to be the issue with a lot of the surge or power strips. The direction of the outlet is a better fit that makes it easier to plug in multiple devices. I do like having the controls for the individual outlets at my fingertips and a few USB ports for those lesser powered devices. It is quick to power on or off, has an Audible click and also each has a visual LED to indicate whether or not it is in use. This is a perfect strip for holiday lighting or any in house lighting projects. A good buy if you can purchase it when it runs on sale. Read more

Good on so many levels

Boroโ€”November 13, 2025โœ“ Verified purchase

Absolutely love this power strip! It has 6 outlets that are easy to use and designed for average-sized cords. I think it's a great value for money because you get a good power strip, can monitor consumption per outlet, and remotely turn on and off each one from the app, which works very well. Unlike some other power strips, this one doesn't have a buzzing noise Read more

Excellent, does exactly what I needed. Will save the timer schedule even with no network

TheLastAndTheCuriousโ€”January 9, 2026โœ“ Verified purchase

I love the pair of these I got, one for powercycling some electronics and monitoring their draw, and another one for fish tank devices like the heater, pump and lights. I can turn off the fish tank lights when we're watching a movie, and the pump runs on a schedule. Additionally having the physical buttons to turn things on and off is great, you really don't loose anything with this. Being able to turn things on and off remotely, even from outside the house is really convenient. I can't really think of anything I'd add to this unit. Read more

Good functionality, Bad USB ports, Ugly footprint.

Stephen Oliveauโ€”November 29, 2025โœ“ Verified purchase

Works well! As others have said, It was larger than expected. A great value (when on 'sale' for ~$40, almost always) vs any of the other Tapo plug solutions. Especially if you have multiple devices to control. Another review says you can't control the whole strip at once, which isn't strictly true... there is no single button by default, but that is what the group functionality in the Tapo app is for. Monitoring the energy of the entire strip isn't possible at the moment afaik, but that's a simple software issue... not a limitation of the device itself. You can set up this functionality in other smart home software like Home Assistant. USB ports are bad. 12w max per port and not controllable is a huge fail, and completely unacceptable at full MSRP. Not supporting QC or PD at all is crazy in 2025. Setup and install was typically Tapo easy. Read more

Easy to integrate into a smart home

Danโ€”December 4, 2025โœ“ Verified purchase

This power strip works really well - allowing for individual outlet control and power use monitoring. Setup with my home assistant system via Matter was seamless. Power strip looks slick and ... well ... like a power strip. I do like the individual power outlet on/off buttons and indicator lights for those times when I'm right next to the strip. Read more

Really awesome value

thrawnisโ€”November 7, 2025โœ“ Verified purchase

As others have stated, this power strip is quite large. But in some ways that has its advantages. The plug spacing accommodates medium/small DC adapters, there are three USB-A charging ports, and each outlet has a dedicated on/off switch. I paired mine through Home Assistant and have tried both the Matter and Tapo integration. Matter works great for me with absolutely no issues. The Tapo integration also worked well and works even when you disable cloud integration to the device (I blocked the power strip from access the internet). Entities are organized better in Home Assistant using the Tapo integration but I ended up sticking with Matter as I did not want to rely on a third-party integration that may or may not be maintained long term. The good news is that with the latest firmware as of October 2025, all power monitoring features were accessible and usable via Home Assistant. The refresh intervals are about 2-3 seconds apart vs some other smart plugs I have that a roughly one second interval but it still suits my needs. I was really hoping there might be a way to independently manage each USB portโ€™s power but unfortunately that does not seem to exist. The USB ports are powered 100% of the time that the power strip is turned on. The power stripโ€™s main power switch is a physical toggle that can not be remotely controlled. This is not a problem for me but might be for others. Overall, I highly recommend it and believe it is a surprisingly good value considering have multiple separate smart plugs cost much more than this. Especially if you get it on sale for about $40. Great product, works as intended

Geeโ€”December 8, 2025โœ“ Verified purchase

Works great, easy to setup and install. Also easy to reset if you need to set it up again. Response well to the app, and I also hook these up to Home Assistant, all ports work and never had a issue with these and i have 3-4. I actually had a issue with the outlet it was plugged into before the strip. All power buttons respond. Dont really use the USB, but its nice they are there. Read more

Matter matters - if you want it to.

Truck Musicโ€”January 26, 2026โœ“ Verified purchase

Product works BUT if you want to use it with just matter (not using the annoying advertisement ridden Tapo app) there are some issues at least with Google Home. It really freaks out about multiple devices at the same ip address. Two things I did. 1. I reserved the ip address in my home router so Home always knows where to find it. 2. Home created a bunch of zombie devices in addition to the real ones. If you delete even one of those the whole device disappears. I created a special room in Home called Zombieland and I renamed all the phantoms to Z1 - Z6 and moved them there. I still get a message sometimes that says I have unconfigured devices but according to Gemini right now, this is the best way to solve the problem until Google fixes it. Other than that, it is working fine with Home and with no cloud connection. I did have to initially install the Tapo app and connect to the cloud so it could get a firmware update but then I immediately removed it from the app and deleted the app while getting barraged with ads. I can see why these companies want you to use their app - more ads than YouTube!!! Read more
