Fantastic and aestheic tool!
I bought this one to replace one my father bought about a decade ago for our wood-heat-only homestead in an appalachian hollow where microclimates can change our temperature dramatically from the rest of our region. The old one usually reads within 5 degrees of the brand new one. It's super easy to read and see through my living room window, and I personally think the design is quaint and attractive. The arm on this one keeps it locked in place where the old model spins when the wind blows, so I like that a lot. When the sun hits it directly, the temperature is completely inaccurate, so try to find a nice shady spot without reflective surfaces close by that might cause false readings. Most importantly, after ten years and some hard knocks, the old model is still quite functional, so these little gadgets are fantastic for long term use even when exposed to the elements! Read more
