This says it works for data, but for my application of taking a USB-C lavalier mic and hoping to get it to work with a lightning equipped iPhone, it didn’t work. It does work for charging. I’m not sure these are being advertised honestly with that inclusion of “data”, maybe what I tried to do is outside the realm of data transfer but the point is, if you’re looking to convert USB-C to Lightning for the purpose of an external device—like a microphone, this didn’t work for me. Extremely slow charging, for me at least. Charging a 2017 iPad Pro using a 20 watt USB-C block is like three times as slow as a using the same block with a USB-C to lightning cable. I’m not sure whether this device would behave any differently from competitor models, though. Read more
