This is one of my favorite things. It's got 3 USB3.0 ports that link and work properly, a nice aluminum chassis, and 1Gb ethernet! Great if you have a laptop with a 100Mb connection but a USB 3.0 port, or if you'd like to turn a laptop (or even phone!) into a router - that's right, this is Android compatible, I've used it with tablets to make portable configuration of devices a breeze! Would almost prefer it be native USB-C with a standard USB adapter to make it a little more streamlined for mobile, but it's good. Read more

I have two 2013 Lenovo Windows 10 laptops, different models, slightly different specs, bought six months apart. The NIC (network interface card) on each laptop has a max of 100 Mbps Internet download speed. Speed tests showed that both laptops always had speeds of 90 to 96Mbps. At home I have 300 Mbps from my Internet service provider. To bypass the NIC, I connected this adapter with ethernet cable to the router and plugged the adapter into the USB 2.0 port on each laptop one at a time. For Laptop #1, this adapter immediately increased Internet speed from 96 to 312 Mbps. I've been using this adapter several years, always shows around 300 Mbps, so it's been a very reliable adapter. For Laptop #2, this same adapter did not increase the Internet speed at all. Something about the adapter's design works with Laptop #1 but not with Laptop #2. I've read mixed reviews for ALL USB to ethernet adapters - some customers see a big increase in Internet speed, other customers see no increase. It seems that laptop and desktop computers only work with certain brands / designs of USB to ethernet adapters. So if you buy a USB to ethernet adapter and see no increase in speed, try the adapter with other computers (just for testing) then return it and buy a different brand adapter. Try 3-4 adapter brands if needed and likely one of them will give you increased Internet speed. Read more

Last week, I was unexpectedly faced with my work laptop refusing to connect to the internet or even to recognize that there were internet connections available. Since I am working from home, I was able to substitute my personal laptop temporarily but did not want to continue to do so because of privacy concerns. I had purchased the work laptop because it was small and lightweight but that also meant that also meant that it had no ethernet port and only one USB port. Hence, I could not just plug it directly into my router. With a little online research, I found this device and was encouraged by the online community. I am so glad I bought this. I can plug it into my one USB port and now, not only do I have an ethernet port but 3 USB ports! I took it out of the box, accidentally dropped it (no damage), and plugged it into my USB port. It required no setup. Just plugged it in, wired it to my router with an ethernet cable, and everything was working again. And I could keep my wired mouse as well. I am not terribly tech-savvy but I had tried a lot of online suggestions to analyze or resolve the underlying problem without success. Now I don't need to - and this was way more convenient and cost effective that trying to get the laptop repaired. Read more

Well, this thing is kind of a bummer because I guess I wanted the whole package. USB 3.0 is supposed to get you up to 640mbps speed, but when I run this thing with my ethernet and an external hard drive plugged in, the internet just doesn't work. Something overloads it. I do get a full gigabit of speed wired with this, but the hub is kind of useless except maybe for flash drives. I ordered 2 of these and had the same results. I think you need an externally powered USB 3.0 hub for your computer in order to use this hub, which is just kind of goofy. My External hard drives are both AC powered as well and this device still can't run an external hard drive + the ethernet. I tried it on my Dell XPS laptop and I think it works ok with my drives, can't recall right now. On my HP though it doesn't work out, even though my USB 3.0 Sabrent and Amazon usb hubs work fine. Overall it's a cheap chinese product that's great for flash drives and ethernet, but don't expect the full package like I did unless your USB ports can output a high power. Maybe this is a fault on my end and the product will be great for everyone else. Read more

At the beginning of the pandemic, we needed to send our teams home fast. Most ppl only had 1 USB connector on their laptops but with heads phones and everything needed more. This was a great tool we purchased and sent to our team members to hardwire into their internet AND provide additional adaptors. Since we started using these/providing these to our team members, I have not had any reported issues of slow speeds or issues with connections regarding this tool. I ended up buying the updated version that also has a USB-C adaptor and it works like a gem. I would HIGHLY recommend this item if you are looking to increase your USB's and/or have an ethernet adaptor. There are likely other more sophisticated docking stations but this one is great if you only need these features. Very reliable! Read more
