Accurate temperature rating.

So this product performed better than I expected. I decided to test it out on my back porch last night since I received it yesterday, and I knew that the temperature was going to be a low of 28°, so I expected this 20° bag to keep me fairly warm, but most people agree that the temperature rating on the bags is a survival rating and that you shouldn't expect to be comfortable at the actual survival rating and that you should probably buy a bag that is 10° warmer than your intended temperature if you want to be comfortable. However, this bag, paired with a 4.4R value pad, kept me very warm and comfortable at 28° without a tent or tarp, without wind, on my back porch. The sleeping bag itself is about 2 and 1/2 lb and the material seems thin , but it works and Is much more compressible than my 0° bag. You can get a thinner, lighter, more compressible down bag if you're willing to drop significantly more money on it, but for the price, this is an extremely good value and a good bag. Read more

Good Warmth/Weight ratio

I went with the Altos 20-deg bag (blue) as an upgrade to an old-but-warm bag that is just too bulky for back country hiking. Took this out for a weekend campout and pleased with the quality. The Altos straight out of the bag for first use needed a few hours to expand the filler enough to provide decent insulation and by the following day of being left open it appeared to be fully expanded and quite fluffy. Both nights the temps were in the 30's and I was plenty comfortable with boxers, a t-shirt and socks as my personal layer. The footbox is a little tighter than I'm accustomed to but I did not feel constricted in any way and retained enough space where I could just barely slide my leg up in order to adjust my socks without having to unzip the bag (I'm 5'10", 170lb). The draft blocking flap around the inside seemed a little low but still effective (I didn't bother cinching it) and the cap/top of the bag has a nice bit of padding and insulation that was very comfortable and allowed me to sleep without a beanie cap, which was a really nice change from my usual cold-weather camping. This bag is rated as a 20-deg bag and I'm not confident it would keep me warm enough at that temp without wearing thermals and definitely heavy socks. I noticed that wherever my shoulder or knee happened to press against the fabric, I felt a cold spot. Not enough to get a chill, but noticeably colder. The footbox was warm enough and was better the second night after the fill thoroughly expanded. Overall I'm happy with this bag. Read more

Decent Bag, Cold Rating Beware.

This sleeping bag is comfortable enough but does not provide the amount of warmth I was hoping for. I'll start with the negative being that warmth seeps out of this bag. Despite my best attempts at closing in the opening, without anything else to slow the temperature drop, it's going to get uncomfortable. If you move in your sleep, you'll get colder quicker. The good news is it'll keep you alive until the sun, movement, and coffee in the morning can reheat you. It is imperative that you put boiling water in a Nalgene bottle to stuff in this bag for overnight so you can get a decent night's rest. I've also had to put on toe warmers in my camp booties to keep my feet from being the reason I wake up in the night. The positive is that this is a great price for the weather rating. I look forward to using it for weather over 32F as we transition into the late spring/summer months. It has great compression and is perfectly lightweight. I stuff it in my backpack without the stuff sack as the buckles are too bulky and with a few good shoves from the top, I manage to fit a plethora of other kit in my pack. It will remain a staple in my backpack for the fall and spring seasons. Read more

Comfortable, light weight, durable, and gets really hot quick

My friend recommended this bag to me in 2018. I love the weight, reliability, comfort, and ease of packing with the compress pack. I took mine to hike Mt. Fuji in 2018, where it got completely soaked for 4 hours as I hiked down the moutain and typhoon Jebi caught me off guard. It dried out well and went on many more adventures and counting. It's small enough to comfortably use for sleeping in a compact car on long road trips, random camping trips, survive the freezing nights of the Mojave desert, and can be spread out roughly on top of other blankets as an extra precaution against the cold. In 30°F weather, it gets too hot within an hour. I always have to open the zipper and let it breathe more. It was comfortable to as low as 20°F weather with no wind-chill when fully zipped. The thickness is nice and adds extra cushioning that helps me sleep or camp out in the most random places that I've ended up in. Bang for buck, this is the best sleeping bag I've ever got at this price point and one of my most reliable. The zipper and build quality is durable and beefy, while staying light weight. The comfort is amazing. I wish I could recommend this sleeping bag more and give it a 10 out of 5. My family members and friends loved it too and some have been buying it after trying mine. Well made

I love it! Very cozy and comfortable. I got the one rated for 20 degrees, and used it in 27-35 degree temps, stayed warm in only a cotton t-shirt. Read more
