It really works

I couldn't get rid of the green water. Algae was growing on everything. I scrubbed and did water changes every two days and modified all the feeding and lighting so no effect. Finally broke down and got this stuff. Worked great. Aquarium is clean and water is crystal clear. Directions state 1 ml per 12 gallons. I have a 40g breeder tank which would have been over 3 ml. Decided to error on the side of caution and only put in 1.25ml which was plenty. And only 1 treatment. One molly did die but I don't think it was due to this as she was already starting to look a little sick before I even treated the tank. Read more

Good for green water only.

I am sure it clears green water but not algae on the sides of an aquarium which is why I purchased it. So if you need green water cleared this is your product but if it is algae on you aquarium walls-get some snails. Read more

It works wonders!

Do not pay attention to those negative reviews. I have a 55 gal fish tank that would get worse and worse, no matter what I did. I do a weekly gravel clean (got a couple goldfish) and a weekly 20%-25% percent water change but the water would continue to get worse and worse. It got to a point where I couldn't even see the thermometer in the back or the fish swimming at the rear. The water was a yellowish, a greenish, and a brownish mixture. Something drastic had to happen so I went online, bought this product, and read and re-read the instructions. Common sense and following the manufacturer instructions are vital for this product to function properly and safely. You need 1ml for every 12 gal. You cannot use this in a aquarium that has been established for less then 3 mo. You need to add this in an area where there is a lot of water movement or you need to dilute it in a cup of aquarium water. Since this was the first time I was using this product I decided to dilute it in a cup of water in case I made a mistake. One teaspoon is 5ml so I used that but didn't fill it all the way (if I did it would have been for 60 gal and mine is 55). I did a quick gravel clean up (5 gal removed) and a quick interior glass wipe, and before I put in the new water I put in the pre diluted tetra algae control. Then I poured in my conditioned water, sat down to watch some football, and hoped for the best. It took around 5 hours for me to see hints of the blue background plus 3 more hours for me to read the numbers on my thermometer. By this time it was 1 am so I went to bed and woke up to a beautiful fish tank. The water was crystal clear. My fish were swimming normally and not one has died since. I was thinking that I'd have to do up to 3 doses to get rid of all the algae, but all it took was one to bring back my aquarium to perfect condition. Other reviews claimed that this made their tank cloudy or worse but I did not notice this because my water was already horrible. Please give this product a chance. For all you that are leery about "positive payed" reviews don't forget that companies also pay people to leave negative ones on their competition. Do as much research as you can and read reviews on other major sites that sell the same product. Follow the directions to a T and you won't regret it. Read more

Not effective against green water when used as dirrected.

This product claims to work against green water algae, which is actually phytoplankton by the way. I used is as directed making precise measurements with a syringe for the maximum of 3 doses over 9 days. It appears as though the green water problem has actually gotten worse. I cant say if it had any effect on other algae since I cant see it through the green water. Also, fish did appear lethargic and oxygen deprived for the first 4 hours after each treatment, but eventually came out of it. The tank has good circulation and aeration. I only had the lights on a few hours a day because that's supposedly supposed to help as well, but it didn't seem to help at all. Update: I wasn't concerned with getting rid of the hair algae because my goldfish seem to like eating it, however I thought maybe the treatment wasn't working for the green water problem due to there being too much algae, so I cleaned most of the algae off the glass and did a couple nearly 100% water changes until there was no sign of green water. I then repeated the 9 day treatment as directed while reducing the light cycle to lass than 6 hours per day, just enough to keep the plants alive. Once again, the fish were stoned for a couple hours after each treatment and it this time it killed the cycle in my tank. The water was already like green Gatorade again by day 9. It looks like the traces of hair algae I missed are still alive as well, though that was not my target. Read more
