They do run a bit small. I usually wear size 8 - 10. I ordered a 12 and they are perfect. I bought the white ones and the material is not see-through, as white can sometimes be. I really like these pants. They fit very well, despite the fact that the reviews when I bought them said "run small--order one size up." I ignored that advice and am glad I did; they fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable because of the spandex in them--almost like leggings--but they look like regular pants. Absolutely love them! I usually wear a size 10 but Amazon told me that they run so small that I should order a 14, which I did. When I first tried them on they seemed like they fit alright, a bit roomy, but okay, until I washed them and wore them a couple times and they really stretched! Now, I can't keep them up without a belt and am really upset that I trusted Amazon because I feel as though they tricked me into ordering the wrong size that now, because I washed and wore them already, I cannot exchange for the right size, which is my regular size, the size I would have ordered had they not insisted that I needed to order 2 sizes larger. I really like the length and color. When they arrived the fabric had been treated with something and was a bit stiff and really itchy on the inside but after 2-3 inside-out washes the fabric was comfortable. They seem to be well-made.
