This cup is amazing. Every detail is thoughtfully designed. My daughter literally got the hang of it within the first 30 seconds. We’ve had them for a week and she’s drinking water with every meal. It’s 90% leak free, she drops it or shakes it upside down a few droplets come out, but considering it’s water I couldn’t care less. It’s the perfect size for her little 1 year old hands. Has enough give for an adult to squeeze, but it’s perfectly sturdy when she’s holding it. There are small grippy bumps, which are great when it’s covered in food. The straw comes out and cleans easy. I really can’t say enough good things about the cups. Read more

Great item, helps toddler learn to drink from a straw. My 15m finally can finally drink from straw, it did take a week for him to get the hang of it. Holds well in dishwasher, did not like having to disassemble it, but that's all straw cups. We only use it at home as it doesn't have a cap. It will splash a little when it is thrown to the ground. Perfect size for those lil hands. Read more

So far I really like this straw cup. The straw itself is not leak proof, which is exactly what I wanted. The straws that block water are really hard for babies to learn with. These are easy to drink from, but don't spill a lot because they are leak proof around the opening where the straw goes in (so the water that's in the straw does leak, but water in the cup doesn't). They can also be squeezed to help baby get water, and they are way more sturdy than the honey bear type cups. Easy to wash. Pretty colors. Since they don't really leak it was easy to bring with us! As a parent navigating the transition from bottle to straw drinking, I found The First Years Straw Cups to be an outstanding training tool that made the learning process surprisingly smooth. What Makes These Cups Effective: Innovative Squeeze Feature: The genius of this cup is the ability to gently squeeze it to push liquid up through the straw, teaching your baby the mechanics of straw drinking. Within days of consistent use, my child understood the concept and began drinking independently without any prompting. This hands-on teaching method is far more effective than just hoping they figure it out. Safety-Conscious Design: The soft, flexible straw tip is gentle on tender gums and emerging teeth. I appreciate that there’s no hard plastic poking around in my baby’s mouth during this oral development stage. Easy Maintenance: Dishwasher safe components make cleanup effortless—a must-have feature for busy parents dealing with multiple cups throughout the day. Value: At this price point, you’re getting excellent quality without the premium cost of some competitor brands. I felt comfortable buying multiple cups to keep in different locations. One Design Consideration: Due to the straw configuration, liquid remains in the upper portion of the straw after drinking rather than draining back down. This means minor spills can occur when the cup is tipped or opened, especially in diaper bags. However, this is a small trade-off for the effective learning mechanism. I simply ensure the cup is upright when transporting or keep it in a sealed pocket. Bottom Line: These cups successfully bridged the gap between bottle and independent straw drinking for my child. The squeeze-to-teach feature is invaluable, and the minor spill issue is manageable with basic precautions. Highly recommend for the 6-12 month transition period. Read more

These made it so easy to teach our 1 year old how to drink from a straw. I love that the straw is silicone- less chance for injury. For the most part, they don't leak but my daughter can smack it on surfaces enough to get liquid out of the cup and 'paint' with it. Because of this, 4 stars and we don't let her roam freely with anything but water. The cup won't just leak if it is lying on the floor, it does take effort. Read more

I love these cups so much that I came here to buy more and write a review! They are perfect for teaching baby how to use a straw and are great for independent use later on in the early toddler years. These are easy for small hands to hold, relatively leak proof, and easy to clean. My younger daughter uses these cups exclusively for milk and water and I wish I had them when my daughter was a baby. 5 stars! Read more

My baby took to this right away. Perfect size for little hands. The squeeze feature, the valve straw, and the leak resistance, excellent. We are transitioning from bottle and this will make the process so much easier. I used a honeybear cup with my first but I like this much better. Read more
