Great shirts, but consider getting a size or two lower than normal!

So first off, these are GREAT shirts for any sort of Steampunk/Victorian/Gothic/Renaissance outfit you have in mind. They're comfortable and light, feel good and do not itch on bare skin, with great movement and a great look (when you get your right size, keep reading). I bought two, the black and off-white. Off-white is a bit see-through, so consider what you are wearing beneath the shirt and/or how cold its going to be. I would recommend a white wifebeater underneath or something like that just in case. Now, as for the fitting, here lies a problem. I have no idea who decided these shirt sizes, but all of them are just FAR too big. As can be seen in the stock photo, the arms sleeves are supposed to be puffy but not overly so. You shouldn't look like you have two parachutes in up your sleeves. I'm 6'3", thin but broad-shouldered, so I normally wear XL. But the XL version of this shirt was like wearing a cape, with sleeves that went down far past my thumbs. So I returned it and got L. Much better fit, but still just too puffy and baggy for my tastes. I was about to give up when I tried one more time with Medium (that's 2 sizes below what I normally wear). And here the fit was perfect. Puffy but not too puffy arms, and a good secure fit around the rest of my body and neck while still feeling and looking loose. So in short, these are very good shirts and I highly recommend them, but do STRONGLY consider your body type when deciding what size to get. If you're a bean pole like me, you will definitely want a size or even two lower than what you're used to getting. If you got a gut and/or thick arms, then your regular size might still fit, but do strongly considering trying a size lower than normal first. Read more

Great light weight shirt.

Buy this shirt a size smaller than you really need. It is very large with extremely long sleeves. The neck is also very large. But is is beautiful! Read more

Thin material, good summer shirt

The material is a little thin, but the overall construction is good so if you are searching for a lightweight summer shirt, this one is a decent choice Read more

DO NOT SIZE UP!

These shirts are fantastic. BUT... they are large. I got a 2x I usually would have gotten xl if I knew it was American-sized. I could have gotten a large and still had plenty of room. They need to be loose. But, get your size and trust. The fabric is wonderful. Great value for the shirt and surprisingly fast shipping provided it came from India. Read more

★★★☆☆

This shirt will look good as long as you stay still or don't want your shirt to stay tucked into your pants.

This isn't period, period clothing had shirt hems that extended to the thigh. It's a common mistake made by people who don't make active wear shirts and want to save some fabric at the cost of quality. Shirts like these need to have three to four inches more fabric at the bottom to keep the shirts tucked in when you are active and still be a little baggy. It's still nice fabric and the cut of everything else is good, but I can't use this for mid-19th century, I'll use this for fake pirate costuming instead. Read more

Terrific fabric and look with ultra-prompt shipping

Great look, lighting-fast shipping (bought & shipped Aug. 31, arrived USPS Sept. 1). Neck sizes mfr. listed in Q&A are screwy (6"? really?) - maybe they're supposed to be diameters, when every mfr. I know uses circumferences. Needed a 15.5" neck, medium shirt barely fits neck (body fit is totally fine, though cuffs are pretty snug too). Also, my neck must be short because the band collar barely fits (starts to scrunch up a little). Buttons seem like wood w/cork backing; I'm unsure, and concerned about their durability. Glad shirt is machine washable and will update after a while based on how the shirt lasts and fits after multiple washings. Read more
