Another cool item that serves a good purpose and is fun to play with.

This is a fun toy that also serves a function. You can 100% warm up water on it. I’ve warmed up a half a gallon at a time numerous times.. I really enjoy the adjustability of the flame so I can control the water temperature if I just want to maintain a pot of warm or hot water. The paraffin oil uses a bit expensive. It works really well and produces both light and heat.. You cannot leave it on its side if there is oil in it, it will leak. If you set it up, you should not be moving it around.. this is a great emergency item, but I don’t know if I’ll be taking a camping. It’s pretty fuel efficient. You can get maybe an hour or two if it’s full, depending upon how high the flame is. I think it’s really enjoyable to look at and I’m certainly glad I got it. It’s another guy geek thing. Kind of cool looking and functional. Read more

Amazing! Better than I expected.

The media could not be loaded. This is an amazing little stove, light and heater. It is just right for when I want a fire but not a full wood stove fire. That’s how we heat our farmhouse. I was surprised by the amount of heat generated. It’s just enough to knock off the chill. A full tank of paraffin oil burning at a medium flame lasted 3 hours and boiled a full kettle. Keep in mind— only use a pot or kettle that you would put on an open flame. This gets hot enough it will crack ceramic pots even on a low setting. I waited a year before purchasing this stove. It was worth the wait. Odorless. Sturdy construction. No leakage though the tank is not sealed. Functional and compact. Read more

Lovely little fireplace.

Love that little fireplace! I already had a small cast iron tea pot and tried it out to see how long it will take to boil water on a low setting, or IF it can boil water. Does it ever, and fast at that. Needless to say, never leave anything flame unattended. The built is solid like cast iron which it might well be. When you first fill the tank, which holds about 200ml, leave it sitting for at least 15 minutes to give the wick time to soak up the oil. Then you'll have no problems lighting it and keeping it lit. It looks lovely with the dancing flames which instill calmness and even put out a little warmth. I keep it on our enclosed porch and have not noticed any smells. Read more

nice lantern but requires some small mods

Overall, I'm happy with this lantern. It's bright, it puts out a decent amount of heat, and you could cook on it in a pinch. I did get a second wick and a small L-wrench. I did have to bend a few part that did not get bent from that factory so the top would stay on, so I have to remove one star because if you are not careful the thin metal will break if you over bend it. The metal tabs that weren't bent properly caused the top of the lantern to lean into the flame causing a lot of smoke and soot. Once fixed the soot stopped . The metal does not appear to be stainless steel, but rather a galvanized steel so don't let it get wet as it might rust. The window material is glass which is nicer than the old clear mica. Because of the thin metal you will not be able to cook heavy items on it. It works well to boil a cup of water or soup but no big pieces of cast iron. The handle on the back adds to the safety because your hand is not above the flame when you move the lantern. I haven't had any issues with it being wobbly. It will leak, like any other old-school lantern if you tip it, over fill it, or shake it. You will need a small funnel to fill it because the fuel port is rather small. I got fuel all over it the first time I filled it. I still can't get over it's retro look. I saw an original one in a thrift store and regretted not buying that one, but this one is good enough for me. I wish the price was cheaper $30 cheaper because I would have bought 3 or 4 more of these for friends, but I digress. It's a buy and keep for me. Read more

Highly recommended for anyone who values a vintage experience

I love the vintage feel of this product! I will point out that I have plenty of experience with kerosene lamps - I grew up on a farm without electricity, and taking care of the oil lamps was my particular responsibility as a kid. This isn't just a decorative piece; it has a level of usefulness and quality that a former farm kid can appreciate. There is something incredibly nostalgic and peaceful about relaxing all cuddled up in a warm furry rug under the night sky, watching the gentle flame reflecting on snow. Bonus points for being able to use the top to melt snow on the fly. . Read more

Great little oil lantren/fireplace

This little oil lamp is crazy awesome super easy to use. I don't know why some people complain about smoking I've pretty much had mine going all day and as long as the wick is flush with the guard that it comes up out of never any smoke. Sure if I make the flame where it's coming out the top of the lantern it'll smoke, but that's not how it's supposed to be used. Also I had the perfect little squeeze bottle with a thin tip for filling it and it works wonderfully. Think the bottles are originally for olive oil originally. Before I lit it I did slightly trim it down so the flames largest in the center. Didn't have to soak the wick, just unrolled the wick about two inches and then used the squeeze bottle to run along the top of the wick from one side to the other and it perfectly saturated the wick, then I just rolled the wick back into where it was flush with the guard and lit it as easy as can be. Overall wonderful little table top oil lantern/fireplace. Read more

Miniature comfort and utility!

This is such an unnecessary purchase that you will Love! It’s adorable, heavy and well built, it’s easy to clean, easy to fill, burns for hours on a fill, and will actually heat a pot on top of the included grill. For someone who loves a campfire but who lives in the frozen North, this is a perfect substitute for sitting by the fire on frozen nights. It also has a carry handle that stays cool. Read more
