Really nice, heavy strong zippers. As long as you don't over stuff the pouches the stitches are great! They aren't overkill stitching using normal backpack threading. I think the side pouches are good for most folk and I think people will love it! For myself i wish they were slightly wider and bigger! Because fitting mentos circular mint package, phone charger w cables fills the pouch. I love all the zipper pouches of the main bag! First lab top is perfect and really you aren't going to use it for much beyond flat stuff because the nextn2 sections open better as expected for your more oddly shaped items. Definitely the main area works great w enough space for lots of stuff! Obviously you want super flat docs for zip pouch in direct contact with your back. The zipper is felt but not horrible. I think before a long trip where I knew my bag w super full I would walking a ton I would do test runs. I might add more padding or something and see, but I don't think it's a deal breaker or going to be a huge issue! Seriously nice! I bought another leather bag that is full leather minus nylon of the straps. That bag uses thicker leather but is much heavier and isn't as useful as this in layout! I think the thinner leather works really well, will lasts years, worth the price (obviously lol) and effective and efficient (lol ok I don't get to use those words enough in my life so hurrah!) I rarely give a something just bought full five stars right away - how long it lasts is important to me. But this time, I think it’s worth it. My initial reaction was wow! The leather is heavy gauge cowhide leather. The type that will need break-in time with use. The leather is stained, so with use, (scratches and bounces) it will wear in nicely. The YKK large tooth zips have pulls of the same leather, perfectly made and sewn on. The lining is heavy duty nylon. The straps are sewn then riveted to the bag body, as is the wrapped leather handle at the top of the bag. The bottom of the straps are double sewn onto a leather tab, which in turn, is sewn into the bag stitching. I’ve only seen this type of quality build on high end brands like Tumi. The strap buckles are heavy duty brass, almost like marine quality, and there are plastic stays for the loose strap ends. Pockets aplenty, as advertised; the eyewear/electronics pouch at the top will hold the eyewear and/or a slim pouch. The top front pocket has the usual card and pen slots and the bottom front pocket even has leather hooks with snaps for securing things I want hanging down, like cords - something I’ve never seen on any bag, regardless of price. This backpack is way better than advertised and I don’t think it’ll make a liar of me about its overall quality (hopefully) While I’ll never stop loving Hide and Drink brand, this is a really nice surprise. seems like quality, sure… but WAIT… the arm strap buckles are positioned in the worst place! they are not adjustable, so they rub off on your inner biceps near armpits and are terribly uncomfortable! they hurt me after wearing for just a minute & the discomfort only persists! what a terribly disappointing design FLAW… sure the buckles are thick & sturdy, but at the expense of comfort. Deal breaker. Any arm movement is painful. Returning for this reason alone… but also, it’s a small pack. the photos are very misleading… the models must be tiny and short, out else the photoshopped the bag to appear large, because it’s NOT LARGE, not at all. Smells funny, as others say… indicating this bag is chemically treated or stained… others complain about the odor… I can confirm, it does have an odor that may go away, but the discomfort & size will not allow me to use this long enough to find out. I’ve lost all confidence in this brand, just on this one experience. Save yourself some time, shop elsewhere! Read more
