I've read so many bad reviews on calibration and regretted buying the game even before trying and warned my son not to expect it to work. However, I used the tips from the reviews on Amazon and was able to calibrate on my second try in less than 10 minutes. Here is what I did: 1. Used two old and two new batteries 2. Turned all lights off (except the TV) 3. Put the skateboard controller approximately 4 feet away from the sensor and 4. Pleaced the skateboard cotroller on a stool so it is on the same level with the wii sensor. Once the controller communicated with the wii, the rest of the process was seamless. I am still not sure which of the four above worked but it doesn't hurt trying all. Besides, I got a really good deal on Amazon. Read more

I'm a child of the 80's and was an avid skateboarder back then and can remember Slimeball wheels and all those other wonderful things besides high interest rates. I now have a 3 and 5 year old and thought this game might be a fun way to introduce them to the world, even if it was pretend, of skateboarding. The game itself is a lot of fun and can be played even by my 3 year old if you help out a bit. I've enjoyed the soundtrack with the game and have played it about 3 hours before the board stopped working. (I did not have any of the calibration issues that other people mentioned at the start. It calibrated easily the first time, right out of the box.) It actually stopped working immediately after I finished a skateboard run. I went to switch to the snowboarding mode and the front and rear sensors on the board died. I tried all the manual troubleshooting and Activision's/greater world wide web troubleshooting too. I contacted Activision and they were very good about sending a replacement at no charge. However that board was Dead On Arrival. I am now awaiting my third, and what will be my final board one way or another. The Activision tech did say he would only cover the warranty because I purchased it from company. The implication, is that if you purchase this from an individual person selling on Amazon was that they might NOT cover that warranty. Activision support has been AWESOME and I have enjoyed working with them; but, I have to believe, the hardware in the boards should be been designed to be a bit more robust. I'm sad that they just couldn't get it right with the H/W aspect to make it a full experience. Read more

Our 9 year old callibrated it in 10 minutes. We were doing other stuff in the meanwhile and because he didn't have any problems I cannot give any tips for people how he did it. I guess he just followed the instructions. Our children are playing with it now for over an hour and seem to love the game. It is a little difficult for our 5 year old but with some help from his older brothers even he seems to manage a little bit. Read more

Like so many others, we had trouble getting the board calibrated. We worked on the calibration for a couple hours last night and then resumed work this morning. After making the room as dark as we could and turning off the cable box (as was suggested by another user), it still did not work. We were making arrangements to send it back when we tried changing out the batteries. We replaced two of the new batteries with older batteries, started the calibration, and miracle of miracles.....IT WORKED!!! The game seems like it will be a lot of fun now, but the setup is a nightmare. Read more

I was able to use my "Tony Hawk Ride" controller for a long time after it cracked from heavy use. It recently stopped working altogether. So, I bought the Shred bundle, mainly to replace the controller but also to get a different game to go along with the newer controller. Even though I had plenty of space around the Shred controller, I still had trouble getting it to calibrate. I couldn't remember how I finally got the Ride controller to calibrate years ago. I DID remember what some of the Shred reviewers posted and used two fully charged batteries along with two that were slightly discharged. Having had a problem with lost connections between the Ride controller and the dongle, I placed the Shred controller the same way that I placed the Ride controller. The console and TV are both on top of my TV cart. The nose of the controller is pointed directly at the TV screen but pointed at one side of the console so that, when starting gameplay, the nose is aimed more or less directly at the front of the Shred dongle. So far, things are working fine. The Shred controller seems to be more responsive than the Ride controller ever was, even though some of my "grabs" and "pushes" don't get detected. You might have to jump through a few hoops to get the controller to work, but the fun you have when it's working well (along with the current pricing) makes it worth it in my opinion. Read more

We spent 3 hours attempting to calibrate this game. After trying everything I had it in the box to return and I tried one more time reading the advice in the amazon reviews, it worked! This is what worked: Turned off all light sources replaced new batteries with old batteries cleared the room turned off all electronics that could be interfering. placed the wii on the floor The process was totally frustrating and I wanted to throw the thing through the window, but I have to say my son has been playing nono stop and says it is if favorite game. But I can't give it more than 3 stars because of all the problems. Read more

When we first purchased this we couldn't not get it to calibrate after hours and hours of trying every trick in the book. I ask for return information. I heard back from Joesph who offered to send out a new board fully tested. We received the 2nd board quickly and it calibrated immediately without having to do ANY of those ridiculous tricks to get it to work. I have a very happy son now. I am rating it 5 stars for the excellent customer service. Read more
