I own several Topo shoes; they are my favourite shoemaker. Note: I intend to use this Phantom 4 for walking and mainly for travelling, and not running. The special feature for this is that it's waterproof, which makes it ideal for travelling. I live in Southeast Asia, and it will come in very handy. At home, I always rotate my shoes and never wear the same pair two days in a row. A travelling shoe for me therefore has to be very comfortable and reliable to use daily. Topo shoes are great for this purpose. Do note that this is a neutral shoe, it's not an especially high stack, with 35mm to 30mm, and I find that this is great for walking. I don't like 40mm stack height shoes because then they require much more of a rocker, and that is less natural for my walking gait. I also really like that Topo uses elegant and simple designs and colour ways for many of their shoes, but they also have brighter and more colourful options if you prefer. I have another Phantom 4, not waterproof, and have had pairs of Phantom 3s, and am a big fan of these shoes. Read more

I've got around 25 mi on them in wet conditions. I live in the Willamette Valley Oregon, so it gets wet. I thought no way are these going to be waterproof. Well so far so good. My socks and feet kept dry. The cushioning of the heel takes some getting used to. It's not as dence, or have the " energy return " as other running shoes in this price range. But it's waterproof and it's a Topo so it's roomy around the toe. Good waterproof running shoes are hard to come by. I'd buy them again. Read more

First, I didn’t buy my Phantom 4s via Amazon but at a local running store. As such, no on here. Overall, I like these shoes. They are comfortable with a wider toe box and plenty of cushioning inside and with the sole/last. I paid $150 in November 2025 and use these exclusively for walking—approximately 12-14 miles/week. I’ve noted two deficiencies though: 1). The material inside the shoe just inside the heal/below the Achilles notch (both shoes) has degraded and worn; thereby leaving me with the potential to develop discomfort or a blister. 2). The tread on the bottom of the shoe is very insufficient in providing much traction on the sometimes wet, hilly asphalt roads on which I walk. I’m not sure I’d buy another pair due to these two deficiencies—especially considering the premium price. Again, overall they are comfortable and have served me well for the short two months I’ve worn them (3X/week) but their durability is questionable. Size 10-1/2 mens Height 6’3” Weight 195lbs.
