I bought these shoes for warm weather hikes and was prepared to not like them. I always wear high waterproof hikers, but wanted cooler feet and quicker dry time. I was really surprised how great these shoes are. I’m size 11 medium in everything and they fit perfectly. The toe room is unbelievable and they fit snug around the mid foot/heal and ankle so no need for a death grip on the laces. I always double knot my laces, but these ones stay tied with just a single knot. The vibram soles have terrific traction and the flat footbed has just enough cushion and support to be comfortable on rocky trails. Light as a feather, flexible, they dry fast and look good, no clown shoe vibes. I am duly impressed and willing to admit my days of heavy high top hikers may be over for at least the summer weather. I recommend these Topo shoes highly. Read more
I have put about 500 miles on these shoes so far. I hike on very rock terrain and the soles have held up great. They are very comfortable on long hike. Their durability surpasses Altra shoes by miles. Will buy Topo Athletic shoes again. Read more
Fit is awesome, this is my second pair. My first pair were not wide and they were my regular street shoe size which caused me some issues with my toes. These were a full size larger and a wide shoe. Wore them a couple of times already and they have been much more comfortable. Really like the rock plates, and the tread provides great traction on all surfaces. Read more
I love how Topo’s feel and fit. For my narrow feet, Topo’s are superior in locking my foot into place. I hiked the John Muir Trail in 2020 wearing the Topo Ultraventure’s and they were so great and perfect feeling. I hate that I didn’t buy a few pairs of those for the future back when I had the chance. The new ultraventure 3’s are too overly stacked and cushioned for me so since I’m a long distance hiker, when I read about these new Traverse’s that are made specifically for thru-hiking which include some features I like like drainage holes and better stability, so it was a no brainer and worth giving them a feel. The initial fit was as expected but unfortunately they’re not quite what I’m looking for. It’s absolutely bonkers to me to design a long distance hiking shoe with the sole stacked as high as it is but with minimal cushioning. Without sufficient cushioning my feet start to ache a lot more so I was looking for a little of that plush cushiony feel like the original Ultraventure's, but unfortunately you don’t get that with the Traverse’s. Don’t get me wrong they are a great feeling shoe and I have no doubt they would be a 5 star shoe for someone else, but I’m just looking for that nice plush sweet spot Read more
I made the leap to leave my hiking boots behind and trade them for these hiking shoes. Maybe my best hiking decision in a long time. I have Morton's neuroma, so I was nervous about making the change, but I can't be happier with the results. I hiked 175 miles on the Appalachian Trail (mainly Southern Maine), and it was a very difficult, rocky portion of the trail. My shoes were perfect. No blisters. Great support. Lightweight and dries quickly. I'll be hiking in Topos from now on. Read more
Great shoe with massive limitation! I typically wear a size 8.5 to 9 wide, which is why the wide toe box is appealing on these shoes. This size 9 fits fine, except for the fact that it gets very narrow right at mid foot and the volume from bottom of toes to top of foot is made for a 80lb female! There's simply no way a normal man's foot with socks on can fit inside of this shoe with any level of comfort. Maybe they stretch a bit with use, but then you're splitting out the shoe unnecessarily fast. Really wanted to love these, they're simply not made for a normal foot, unless maybe you size up 1 or 2 shoe sizes. Read more
Men's Topo Traverse size 12. Narrow mid foot (and I have narrow feet). Supplied insole was terrible, as in most shoes. No arch support and really uncomfortable step. Replaced with old Spenco cross-trainer insoles and fixed problem. Plenty of room in the toe box. Material above toes is thin. Made sure to file my nails well to avoid damaging materials. Why 5*? Because they saved my feet walking city concrete for a week vacation. They held up where I would have been suffering in my Keens. Good shoes, but they could be much better. Make material stronger, insole better, offer normal shoe colors Read more
Honestly they are more comfortable than I thought they would be! Very roomy with great arch support. I’ll definitely be looking into other Topo shoes. Read more
