I bought this for my shop to light torches start bon fires or light cigars was looking for a compact one but being a big star wars fan and yes this does look like a light saber it made of metal feels heavy in the hand well made product I for one am very happy with it and highly recommend. but no it is not electric or cordless it is a butane torch pure and simple that throws a pretty decent flame long and sharp. Do not forget to buy butane. And I would not recommend buying the cheap butane canes with the plastic tips they don't fit as great and you will loose a lot of butane buy the ones from the smoke shops that have better tips. This torch was GREAT.... For ONE use.

The torch was great when I opened it, I thought it was the bees knees. I used it ONE night to char some vegetables. Granted I had to fill it thrice to complete the job, I really didn't mind because it was working well and I could hold it comfortably, long term, like a flashlight. It even had the savvy continuous flame option. Well, now I need to use it for the same exact recipe as before, except it won't even light. Filled all the way with butane, wasted that. Held another flame to the torch, didn't work. Maybe I would buy again if it were $5, but it was not worth the cost at (approximately) $25.
