I wanted a simple, reliable lamp for working on tabletop projects that didn’t have 8 color temperatures, 12 brightness settings, and looks like a cyborg praying mantis. Simple, stylish, replaceable bulbs, built to last as long as it’s taken care of. Sturdy without being obtrusive and I like that it comes with a heavy base for tabletop use as well as a clamp. One thing to note when using the base, the little set screw is a bit manky but the fit between the arm tenon and the base is so good that I don’t feel it worth worrying about tightening down. Ok for the price I paid, about $19. I agree completely with another reviewer who said the following. Works fine. Note that the desktop stand is pretty rickety, and not quite heavy enough or balanced enough to instill a lot of confidence. I haven't tried the clamp (not useful for my use case) but since it is 100% plastic, I would be wary of using it that way long term. I don't like that the switch is on the cord and not on the lamp, and I wish I had paid closer attention to how small it is. I assumed it was standard sized. Read more

This lamp is good quality with a solid heavy base with an additional clamp that works separately from the base. It is easy to switch out from one to the other so you can have both options easily. It does a very good job of extending with the base as it is relatively limited compared to clamping to a table because if you try to extend it extremely left or right the base can only hold it level so far but clamping onto a table top it can fully extend left or right out to the sides.
