UPD After posting my feedback, Toshiba’s customer-service team reached out proactively and handled everything with real professionalism. They didn’t just replace - they also made sure the overall user experience was fully restored, from setup guidance to follow-up emails confirming that everything worked correctly. Even though some early units might have issues, their support and accountability absolutely changed my impression of the brand. That kind of proactive care deserves recognition. → Final rating: 5 stars - because great customer service can make the difference between a product problem and a lifelong customer. --- I bought the TOSHIBA Inverter Countertop Microwave Oven Air Fryer Combo (MASTER Series) and used it very rarely. Even with such light use, the touchpad stopped working around 6 months in. By about a year, it began randomly turning on and choosing random modes - which is both frustrating and a safety concern. By year 3, the unit was completely dead. The feature set (inverter, air-fry, broil, convection, Speedy Combi, Even Defrost, 11.3" turntable, etc.) looks great on paper, but the reliability just wasn’t there. Based on my experience, I originally did not recommend this product or similar combo units from this line. Read more
Quick review: poor lifespan and dury. Stopped working a little over a year. We bought this microwave back in November 2024 because we liked the different functions it had including the convection oven, air fryer, and microwave. It worked fine for most of the year, but there was a little issue with setting cooking times. There is no key pad to enter a number, so you set the time by turning the dial, which would frequently reset and we would have to set the time all over again. Around January 2025, just a couple months over the 1 year warranty, the convection oven stopped working. The convection oven would run, but the temperature would not exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The microwave still works fine. We never use the air fryer or combi function. We also maintain the microwave and keep it clean. We only really use the convection oven to toast bread. We reached out to Toshiba customer support to see what they could do or if they could send a replacement considering not that much time has lapsed from the 1 year expiration. They responded with some troubleshooting exercises, which we did with no success and we notified them so. Their response was they would have to send a technician to fix and it would be at our expense since it's past the warranty period. Upon going back to the reviews for this microwave, I see there are other people that experienced the same issue. Therefore, I would not recommend this microwave due to its poor lifespan and durability. Read more
We have had this microwave about 2 months now, after my not-even-a-year-old GE crashed and died, and they wouldn't warranty it. I like this one (it was recommended on CNET, which is how I found it). It's a little more complicated, yes, but it doesn't take long to figure out the basics. I saw someone review it and start by saying something like "I haven't read the manual and I don't intend to." I don't recommend that approach. You should read the manual where the settings are discussed (or at least the quick reference guide). It isn't intuitive, but in exchange you get a fairly clean interface and a compact unit that doesn't swallow the whole countertop. I love, love the defrost function-- it's hands-down the best I've seen in a microwave. The rest are ok. I can do chicken wings on convection, bread on broil, and reheat all sorts of things. I think some of the settings are not necessary, so I just keep the quick guide nearby and use it as a guide (ie I don't notice any difference when I airfry chicken nuggets or french fries on the same setting, except for time, and I check that anyway, so I just pop it on the first one I come to). I love the convect and airfry/micro combinations. They give me crisp food that is also cooked inside. I will use this pretty much exclusively in the summer because I hate firing up my oven when it's hot. A couple of notes: --the unit is not as strong a micro as package times indicate, so you may need to go longer than the cook times on items like frozen veggies. It's nbd (maybe +1 minute), but something to keep in mind. --it doesn't have a sensor (I missed that when I ordered it), so "reheat" is just time-based (you need to check the food). --it doesn't get super hot like my old one did around it. That said, I keep it on a heat-proof mat to protect my countertops. --the top heating element is in the back, so food in the middle of the plate (rather than the sides) doesn't get as brown in the oven/broil/airfryer. It must be moved around a bit. If you want something you can just fire up and not think about, I would get a different model (just not the GE, because I'm not the only person that sucker died on for over $400😡). However, I like how small this is, how nice it looks, and it does a great job for like 95% of what I need. It's also a lot less expensive and, supposedly, will last longer (I'll definitely update if it doesn't). I'm happy with it so far. Read more
