After reading reviews of some other brands and the installation problems encountered, I was almost reluctant to buy any router as I am not all that tech-savy. However, I wanted to replace my Spectrum-supplied router and stop paying monthly rent forever. I found that TP-Link's installation instructions were simple, clear, and best of all, they worked. Getting the router up and running was no problem and I soon was having internet service on two towers and two iPads. The only real problems I encountered were with trying to get my Roku box and Ring doorbell connected to the internet. The problem was my wi-fi password. HELPFUL HINT: when you set up the new wi-fi site, you will need to create a password, as you don't just automatically use your old site. When creating your password, use only letters and numbers, NO special characters like ##, etc. For some reason Roku and Ring, did not recognize the password. I contacted Ring for help, Ring finally passed me off to TP-Link and Walter, a very patient and helpful rep led me through all sorts of steps, and finally mentioned the password problem. I changed the wi-fi password to only letters (Caps are OK) and numbers and had no more problems and got Ring and Roku up on internet in no time. This problem may happen with some other apps; don't take that chance. Letters and numbers only. I should mention, there was no attempt to get me to buy into a multi-year security program like some people have complained about some other brands. I'm not sure, but I think this router is faster than the Spectrum router; that may be my wishful thinking. At the worst, it is just as fast as the Spectrum router, which is plenty fast for me. So far, delivering what the industry and user reviews have promised: bandwidth, quality, easy set-up and all at a very friendly price. Nicely packaged and the set-up instruction guide is easy to follow. Significantly better coverage in our 2000 ftยฒ condo than our previous Linksys router -- and now no dead zones. The only glitch so far was getting my external USB NAS drive to be properly recognized and all the files accessible thru the router (which had been accessible just fine on my previous nearly 10-year old router). A couple days back-and-forth with helpful folks inside the TP-Link Community got the Windows 11 SMB settings sorted and we are now "good to go". Update after 5 weeks: still highly recommended. no 6GHz so wireless speeds are not a whole lot different than Wifi 6e. WiFi 7 clients are still fairly rare but I installed a Wifi 7 card in my laptop just to test it and, as expected its pretty similar to Wifi6e @ 80MHz channel width. At 160MHz its a bit faster but not really anything worth upgrading for on its own and this basically requires interfering with your neighbors/DFS/other APs you may have. Consider 6GHz equipped APs if you want significantly more wireless throughput than Wifi 6e. I mostly bought this because it has 2 2.5GbE ports. So I can have a 2.5GbE link between my modem/router in the livingroom and this AP in my gaming dungeon. Between my desktop (connected to this AP @ 2.5Gb) and the dozen wifi 5/6/7 clients in the dungeon, I can actually make use of the 2.5Gb backhaul to the modem, which is what I wanted. When you have a gigabit+ internet connection, 1GbE LAN starts to be an issue. as with every other TP-Link AP i've owned, it is extremely solid on the wireless side. Connects fast, hardly ever have issues. Reboot maybe once or twice a year solves any issues. I have a small-ish house so I don't really know if range is good or bad. It easily covers the area I need it to at less-than full-power so I assume its relatively good. First time i've used the newer TP-Link admin panel and it is much improved vs. the Archer C7 days. The TP-Link Tether app is generally useful as far as quick settings changes go. Nothing on the software sides is obviously broken. Might be spying on me but at this point I'm kinda glad its CCP instead of my own govt. My one actual complaint is that it seems way larger than it needs to be. For a low-end Wifi7 AP, it is larger than any AP i've owned before and the location of the antennas makes it even wider. Had to clear out some extra space on the shelf for it (-1 star). Read more
This was a very easy process to set up and a great device. I recommend that you use the mobile app to set up the device. My internet speed has never been better than before I got the router. I have issues with connectivity in rooms far from my modem, to the point that I was using a wifi extender in one room. I got this router, and I no longer have to do that. Just installed this today, and so far works awesome. My house is about 2000 sq ft. Had issues with my Linksys EA9500(AC5400) after 6-7 years, got the Spectrum wifi7 router, it was just problems. Specially because i have about 30-40 devices running at the same time. Bought a Netgear Nighthawk RS300 wifi 7, and it didnt worked for me either. Finally got this today, set up was super easy, a lot of options, excellent coverage in the whole house and outside. I love the option that has easymesh. And price didnt hurt my pocket. Read more
