Other reviews talk about the measurement of the bag flattened but the key measurement is the 13.5" of the opening at the top, so despite the bag being wide enough to fit a larger laptop when flattened, you can't get one bigger than a 14" MacBook Pro in this bag. I carry two laptops while traveling plus a 13" iPad so I had hoped I could fit all three in this bag. But my 16" laptop will not fit. But it is a great travel bag, very sturdy, and has extra anti-theft features for those of us who travel with a lot of electronics. It's very roomy, I can easily fit my MacBook Pro, 13" iPad, and a Sony mirrorless camera w/ a small lens in the bag. It also has a strap on the back to attach to rolling luggage while traveling. I bought this bag primarily for my upcoming study abroad program. I wanted something cute and functional but still be anti-theft because of where I'm going happens to be a pick-pocket hot spot. I really like this bag because it's not a typical looking anti-theft bag so I don't appear to be some paranoid tourist. This bag is a bit bigger than I anticipated and heavier than most totes. However, one of the features is an anti-slash metal mesh embedded into the bag so once you account for that it's not too bad. I will suggest that if you are using this for an everyday bag with no specific purpose other than to carry a wallet, you may want something else. But it is very room. There are two side pockets you can't really see in the picture which is nice for small items. The main pocket is huge though. I tested it out to see what I can fit. It's roomy enough for my Surface Pro 4 in a hard shell case, a 3 subject notebook, a pencil case, a wallet, a book and there was more than enough space left. I'd say that this could even be a weekend or overnight bag. Overall, it's a pretty sweet bag that's stylish and functional and really not as expensive as some other bags I've bought. This is an amazing bag. It is not highly structured so will not stand on its own; however, the fabric is durable, it has plenty of pockets, and is the perfect size. The anti-theft features are great as well. One of the best things about the bag is it’s perfect for concealed carry. The pockets go all the way to the bottom of the bag and the zipper locks so the weight of my Sig Sauer doesn’t make the bag fold over. This is a good, sturdy bag. I bought it to use as a crossbody tote, but it was very large. I could not see using it as a main bag to use while sightseeing and shopping during travel So, when travelling, I used a shoulder tote bag that I already owned, and used this Travelon as a carry on. It is easy to carry by the handles and looks stylish, and holds a lot. It probably can be used as a personal item bag, and with a strap on the back, it can be looped over the handle of a suitcase and pulled together all at once. Read more

The bag is well-made (although one of the pocket zippers got stuck repeatedly, as mentioned by another reviewer) and sturdy, making it seem a durable product. The bag is large enough to hold anything you could possibly need while out and about -- water bottles, umbrella, DSLR camera, phone, wallet, passport, extra sweater, e-reader, etc etc. However, this all leads to the bag being very, very heavy. (The bag itself is heavy with nothing in it.) I purchased the bag to take on a trip to France and found the security features offered a great peace of mind. Carrying the bag for long periods of time (i.e. longer than 5-10 minutes), however, caused great strain and pain. The bag is very stylish as well, and it didn't embarrass my husband to carry the bag -- although, he, too, found it too heavy and painful to carry. We both came home with bruised and sore shoulders. Love this bag! I bought it for our two week visit to Alaska (by train and by sea). The size was perfect to carry my valuables and important documents (with room to spare for a few other small items) while traveling by plane, train, bus and ship.
