Travelon

I've had many a Travelon bag (and accessory) over the years, and I always appreciate the quality and design. This is a great addition to my never-ending collection of totes, and will be useful in my travels. First of all, I looooove the blackberry color. It is rich and deep and doesn't scream purple (maybe it screams eggplant). I am so over basic black bags for travel, and even though it seems like a minor point, color plays a good part in my buying decisions. But beyond that, it's a great bag. Very lightweight, yet sturdy. Good seams, zippers, handle design (love having an attachable, adjustable cross-body strap). The two outside mesh pockets are a slightly padded, good quality mesh – better than most. My 18oz bottle fit fine, with room to spare. Two nice outside zip pockets, and the all-important trolley sleeve. I had some trouble trying to fold and fit it back into its carry pocket, but no matter: I usually travel with something like this just laid out flat in my carry-on, until needed. At 16.5 L capacity, it is smaller than some I have (e.g., Foldie), but sometimes you just need something this size, and it should qualify for even the most strict underseat personal size limitations, especially if not stuffed to capacity. This bag functioned as my personal carry item on an international flight because it met the bag limit sizes. I used this as my purse because it was light weight yet also allowed me to carry bulkier items into the flight outside of my checked bag, making the items easier to access. I have health challenges, so this bag carried what I needed for healthcare, as well as my headphones, a book, passports for my hubby and me in an RFID holder, a bulkier RFID wallet, TSA liquids, and more. It's also waterproof, so I could wipe it down. I brought a cuter (less functional, more about style?), more size-appropriate purse with me for use during the trip (carried in my checked luggage), so I liked that I could take this bag and store it inside its "pouch" during the trip until I needed it again for the return flight home. I overstuffed this bag at times and it took it all like a champ without tears or rips at the seams, and the zipper stayed functional. Two thumbs up from me. Read more

It's purple, which makes it easier to find amongst all the black bags out there. I expected it to be more solid or purse-like. It is not, and assumes the shape of whatever you put in it. I had to recalculate how I was going to pack. It's only been on one outing, so I can't comment on durability. Read more

I just took this bag on a four hour flight. It held up well and I really like it. Outside zipper pouches are nice. Mesh pockets are great. I wish there was a zippered pocket on the inside. The reason for 3 stars is that one I packed the bag (not over stuffed at all) I couldn’t fit the sleeve over my carry on suitcase handle. This was one of my main reasons for purchase.
