Best Rollaboard Suitcase Value on the Market - Excellent, very high-quality Suitcase
This purchase was to replace a Travelpro Crew 9 rollaboard that served me well for 10 years. I picked up this bag from Amazon Warehouse at a substantial discount even though it was new in the box. Have always been a fan of this style of rollaboard with 2 wheels as it does give just a little extra interior space over the spinners. When I first started traveling weekly for work, I looked at what pilots and flight attendants were using and most all have this style of bag with 2 wheels, and many are Travelpro. That said, if you prefer a spinner bag, this may not be the best choice. Quality - The quality of suitcases over the years has declined and most are essentially disposables once there is an issue with them. The quality of this bag is excellent and Travelpro stands behind it with a lifetime warranty. The wheels on this bag are very smooth, like rollerblade wheels, and makes it very easy to roll. The handle is made of high-quality materials and you can feel how well is slides up and down. The zippers and zipper pulls are all high-quality materials and construction. The zipper pulls on my last Travelpro failed and led to the demise of the bag. The pulls on this bag are of higher quality. Some reviewers have expressed concern with the metal zippers on the front pockets but they are also high-quality and are very easy to open and close. The handles on the bag are well reinforced and I expect will be very durable. The materials, leather and nylon, are also very high quality and noticeably different from most other suitcases of lower quality. Functionality - on my previous Travelpro rollaboard, I didn't use any of the external pockets because they were not very functional. On this bag, the external pockets are very functional and easy to access. The 2 pockets on the front of the bag are shallow and are great for storing smaller items. Behind these 2 pockets is a large one that is great for storing a laptop computer. The charging ports on the rear of the bag make plugging in any of your devices a snap with both a USB-A and a USB-C port with a sliding cover to protect these ports when not in use. Inside the bag you have the built-in, fold-out suiter. I haven't used this and is not something I have used on other bags so cannot comment on it. There is a removable quart-size wet pocket which I took out and do not use but can be a nice feature if you like to use a quart-size bag. I am not a fan of the "deluxe interior tie-down system" and wish the 2 flaps could be removed, but they cannot. I use compression bags and have no need for a tie-down system. It's easy enough to lay them flat on the bottom of the bag. I rarely use the expansion feature on rollaboard bags and have not tried the one on this bag. The size of this bag is perfect for all US airlines carry-on size requirements. Same size as my last Travelpro and never had an issue carrying it on. I weighed the bag without the suiter and the quart bag and it was 8.2lbs vs. the stated 7.7lbs. No issue, it's about the same as most other rollaboards except this bag uses much higher quality materials. Overall - I am very happy with this purchase and even more so that I was able to get this bag at a discount. I would recommend this bag to everyone but especially for those that are frequent travelers. It's well worth spending the extra money to have a high-quality bag. There are many reviews out there extolling the quality and value of this bag and I would agree. You can't go wrong with this bag. Read more
