As noted by other consumers this 4k is the pinnacle of clarity, both im sound and image. I'm hoping Disney will release a special edition with the IMAX scenes and a 3D disc edition. As it stands right now this release is a stunner and will showcase any home theater system or tv. The bigger the image the better! If you have Dolby Atmos capabilities be prepared to be astonished. Third installment of Tron. 15 years since the last one. All 3 movies have their own story where the first one is about Flinn, second about his son and saves the company, and this movie is about the competitive company Dillinger which brings a program into the real world, named Ares aka master command. Ok..so originally I was not going to purchase this movie even though I am a huge Tron fan! Everything I have read and have seen on the internet including many reviews have said the third installment of Tron is the worst so far. Confusing storyline characters that were not used to their full potential and of course Jay Leto being cast as Ares. But the visuals were excellent. I still have the delux laser disc version of Tron and the fantastic 3D bluray 4 disc version of Tron and Tron Lagacy and of course I also upgraded to the 4k steelbook versions of the movies. I decided to not belive all the negative press and purchased the 4k steelbook to complete my collection. And I must say Tron Ares is NOT a bad movie! It's not the best Tron movie but it does more than an admiral job with the subject matter. Also the visuals and the transfer to 4k are spectacular! The action is done very well and the cinematography is excellent the NIN sound track also works really well and carries much of the film. Lots of the music scored for the film reminds me of 70's electronic music like Tangerine Dream mixed with current aggressive techno. I'm glad I didn't listen to the nay sayers and purchased Tron Ares! Which more than likely will be the last movie in the franchise because it didn't do well at the box office but even so..I think it's was a really good send off. Read more

Personally; I liked Tron: Ares. I know I will catch flak for saying that but it's a really good movie. I love the original Tron; I saw it at the theater, and yes I know that makes me older. I preferred Tron: Ares to Legacy; mainly because Legacy's slow pace and lack of action had me bored. One part of Ares that bothered me was Jeff Bridges lack of screen time. I wish he had been more involved. Jared Leto did a good job with the role and material he was given.He went from being an unemotional program to developing humanistic traits as the movie progresses. Greta Lee, Evan Peters,Jodie Turner-Smith, and Gillian Anderson were all great as well. Special effects; this movie has some of the best I have ever seen. Nine Inch Nails; well what can I say? Been a fan since Pretty Hate Machine; have every halo he has produced and have seen him in concert twice. The soundtrack just rocks!! I think that the critics were overally harsh to this movie and poisoned the well before it even premiered. Given time I think peoples perceptions will change. Bought this for the commentary and deleted scenes; plus I have blu-rays of Tron, Tron: Legacy and now Tron: Ares. Read more

I bought this set and saw this in the theater. I went with low expectations because it didn't have much to do with previous characters. This to me isn't a reboot thought as it was announced. It did have connections to the previous film, just not many. So to me it is a continuation. And that was one of the reasons I debated about going to see it. But I'm glad I did. Not as good as the previous movie but still good. Nice set up for the next installment. I hope it continues despite bombing at the box office. I feel like it didn't deserve to bomb. Perfect no, but surprisingly a good movie. Highly recommended for Tron fans. Read more

The first two films did well to set the stage for how awry and fish out of water life is when a human enters the Grid. But in TRON: ARES, the Grid invades Earth! Dillinger Systems is relying on Ares to be their field marshall but what they fail to realize is his ever rising level of intellectual and social curiosity about all things human, animal, mineral, etc. Many actors could have been chosen for the role of Ares but Mr. Jared Leto brings an emotional intensity with just his eye movements. He first enters the city with narrowed, focused eyes bent on the mission alone. But as each new version of himself arrives, his eyes - and his other senses - are wider open and amped up and he recognizes his destiny as humanity's champion with a little advice from Mr. Jeff Bridges as Flynn. This is the best of the three! And like so many lifelong TRON and Disney fans, I'm awaiting to see where it all goes in a 4th film. End Of Line. Read more
