Perfect fit (1969 Firebird) and VERY high quality

R MacJuly 21, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Perfect fit (1969 Pontiac Firebird 400) -- no alterations needed. Delivered in perfect condition. I really like that it is powder coated. High quality. Looks & works great. Easy installation. Here's a TIP: the original tank I removed, had two "anti-squeak pad" strips between the top of the fuel tank and the trunk floor; they were 55 years old (and looked like it) so I purchased new ones from National Parts Depot # C-3001-50 (the ad says you need to buy two (QTY: 2) boxes, but you actually only need to buy one box, because it's 37 inches long, which is long enough to cut in half and still match the original gas tank's two factory-original strips). Surprised by the Quality

MarkDecember 14, 2023✓ Verified purchase

It seems like a stupid thing to be excited about, but, for this price, I was half expecting it to show up and be a bare metal galvanized tank with a bunch of dents and scratches. Instead it's got a really high quality paint or powder coat on it. It looks great. I'm doing a big block swap with an entirely new fuel system. So, rather than run the old tank and hope that I got all the sediment and varnish out of it, I decided to grab a new tank. When this arrived, I was pretty surprised by how nice it was. Maybe I'm easy to please, but I really wasn't expecting much for this price point. Here's some pics of how it looked out of the box, installing the fuel pump, and the tank installed my 91 f-body. (My exhaust isn't running back here anymore so I didn't reinstall all the heat shielding) Fuel Pump: If you're upgrading to the Aeromotive 18073 setup, it fits in this tank like a glove. Install: The old tank was a hellacious fight to get out. I had to bend the filler neck and wrestle it out. This one, somehow, like magic, just slide right into place without a fight. The stock straps snugged right up to it. Gas Cap: My stock gas cap will not fit. I don't know if it's because of the paint/coating or what. I don't know what others ended up using, so if you know, let me know. Overall, I'm very happy with the tank. It's pretty good quality for the price. Read more

Quality and price were good.

Nice powder coated finish. Was not exact compared to the original. Neck angle was not the same. Also, no drain plug was provided and it was a different size from the original. Had to make a trip to the hardware store Read more

Seems to be working fine and looks good

Replaced a nasty looking rusty old tank with this one. It is really tough to get the fuel sending unit installed. I had to outsmart it to get the thing in. And don't lose the retaining ring that should be taped on the inside of the box. I almost didn't see it before throwing the box out. Also, be prepared to fight with the rubber coupling hose between the tank and the gas inlet during installation if you leave the gas inlet in place. If the inlet is removed and then installed after tank installation it might be easier. The tank fits in the stock location and seems to be working fine. There is an insulation kit commonly sold for these tanks that uses very thin material to separate the tank from the trunk floor and an ill fitting piece of rubber to buffer the tank bottom from the straps holding the tank in place. I recommend using sound deadening insulation for the top material because it is inexpensive and much thicker, and buying a cheap bicycle inner tube and cutting it to size to go in between the tank and the hanger straps. The bicycle tube is much tougher and plenty wide to cover the entire strap compared to the parts provided in the previously mentioned kit. Read more

Great Tank

CustomerOctober 23, 2025✓ Verified purchase

This Fuel Tank fit like a glove. The hardest part was getting the old tank out of a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe. The new tank went together easily. Due to the hardware and gaskets that came with it we were able to use the old sending units and lines. I would definitely recommend this to anyone doing this job. Delivery was quick and the tank was perfect! Read more

Fit my 1991 Chevy s-10, 20 gallon tank

AntonioOctober 13, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Bought for my 91 S-10 project. Came in undamaged and looks way better than the old rusted out mess it had from sitting for who knows how long. Identical to the old tank so no fitment issues. Definitely a good choice replacement for the price. Read more
