Very good pants! No break in, good pocket system, excellent waist design, but watch inseam length

Got a set of these to replace my TRU-SPEC 24-7 Pants that I've worn for a few years. I'll start with the "bad". The 24-7 Ascent seem to run about 2 inches longer than the previous 24-7 pants. I previously had 24-7's in 30 and 32 inseam lengths, and I purchased the 24-7's in 32 inseam. They were 2" longer than my 32's in the 24-7's. I ordered Ascent's in 30" inseam, and they were right at the length of my 32" previous 24-7's. I was able to return my longer Ascent's without issue. The Ascents feature the same waist system as the old 24-7 which is good for a lot of up and down work or for IWB. The material of the Ascent is a softer feel than the standard 24-7's. The old 24-7's were almost a little "coarse" in their feel for some time and many washings. The rear pockets on the previous 24-7's had a tendency to catch on things getting in and out of a van for me. The pockets on the Ascent's are inside, and they have a nicer appearance as a result. Haven't gotten hooked on anything. The pocket on the outside of the cargo pocket on the standard 24-7s was good. I would carry two cell phones, one on each side. Would not hold a larger phone as the size was limited, and the flap would only just cover some phones. The Ascent pocket that I use for this is inside the back of the cargo pocket, if that makes sense. That pocket is larger, and can hold a larger phone (maybe I'll upgrade). There is no flap to cover that pocket, but I haven't found that I needed anything to secure my phones in place as the material that makes up the cargo pocket and the flap seem to seal this up very well. This new material on the Ascent is a little more stretchy. It is very comfortable, hasn't needed any break-in at all. Even with the stretchiness, I haven't found it to be a problem in hot weather with it sticking too much to skin and pulling the pants around too much. Over all, I think this is an excellent set of pants, and I will replace my previous 24-7's with the 24-7 Ascent as they wear out (which will take time as they have given me good service). Read more

Nice Cargo Pants

Excellent comfortable light weight cargo pants for hiking or lounging or combat! Made well and fit just right, not tight pegged pants but loose enough for comfort and serious movement. Lotsa' pockets that are useful. The weave looks like the weave on the best fatigue uniform the military ever issued, the OG107s. A few color choices but would be nice if there were more. Read more

Best cargo pants on the market

Great cargo pants, material is a bit thinner and more flexible than other pants but they still feel quite durable/wind proof. Pockets are placed and sized how I want them. Could'nt ask for better pants Read more

Really nice pants

So, first off, I have to say, I REALLY like these pants. They have lots of pockets, and the DropN pocket on either side of the legs is perfect for my iphone. I can get it in and out easily. The stretch waistband is great, the snap and zipper are sturdy, The stretch material is great and the teflon coating is very water resistant. The material seems durable and is comfortable to wear. However...there are a few things I don't like about them. 1. I am a 32/33 waist and a 34 inseam. I ordered the 32 waist and 34 inseam. These pants run way looooooong. Like 3 inches too long. So it's more like a 37 inch inseam. I'm 6 feet and 165 pounds. The pant cuffs pull up under my heel when I'm not wearing boots/shoes. I'm going to have to take them somewhere to get them hemmed, because they are definitely not 34 inches in the inseam. Way long. 2. The crotch is pretty baggy. I can understand why, for flexibility purposes, but it's really baggy. Though, I prefer a little bit tighter pants in the crotch. Call me crazy. 3. The material is a tad...scratchy. Not bad at all, but seems a bit...scratchy. 4. The right and left hip pockets are not as deep as my 5.11 Stryke pants pockets. They are pretty shallow as compared to the 5.11 Stryke pants (basically, the 5.11 Stryke pants and the Tru-Spec Ascent pants are 95% the same pant, just vary in a few different areas, but the styles are the same. The quality however, goes to 5.11 in this bout). Would I buy these pants again? Absolutely. They really are very nice. I would recommend them to a friend too, especially for the price. But if I had a choice between these and the 5.11 Stryke pants, I'd get the Stryke, but you're going to pay a bit more for them. Good buy overall!! Read more

Price was great and shipping was super fast

Initial review is WOW! Price was great and shipping was super fast. I have read a lot of reviews on various pants and this is what I settled on. Never owned anything like this before and have been curious on how they would feel and work (usually just wear jeans and sometimes they just don't cut it). My use is just for hiking, geocaching and goofing off. The features on these pants really appealed to me. Just received them and the fit is great, the cut is pretty good, the quality appears top notch and it has all the features I was looking for. I currently wear a 36x32 in Levi jeans ( have been losing a little bit of weight). These jeans are just a little snug. I ordered these in the same 36x32. with the expandable waist, I'm about in the middle of the expandable part. Can go a little up and a little down - and this is a very comfortable position. The length is just a bit longer that the Levi's but not too long. Just barely touches the floor in bare feed, so with shoes it is perfect. Really looking forward to putting them through my regular routine to see how they do. If as expected, I will get at least one more pair, maybe two! Read more
