This matcha shaker is a useful tool for bringing better quality matcha from home with you on the go, but does not do as good of a job as a chasen when given the option. To test this I made a matcha to recipe included: 2g of matcha mixed with 20ml of hot water, then added to my drink. It was then shaken vigorously for 20 seconds. Measuring 2 grams of matcha did require careful measurement, although there is a convenient 20 ml marker. It cleaned very easily, only needing to add a little dish soap and 20 ml of water and shaking it clean. This has a few issues: the first of which is it does not do a near as good of a job at mixing the matcha as a whisk does. As pictured there are multiple clumps. This led to a less than delicious matcha. Secondly, when I initially shook the shaker the lid wasn't seated correctly, despite appearing to have been installed correctly leading to a little bit of a spill. Once I fully tightened the lid it did not spill any more. You'll want to make sure that you have the lid on securely before shaking. Overall I would only recommend using this shaker if you are away from home and have no other option. Read more

This Mini Matcha Shaker Bottle 1.69 fl oz – Handmade in Japan White Mini Shaker with Mixing Blade for Matcha, Hojicha & Aojiru Powder is a handy little thing to have, I've been using it to make a matcha or hojicha base for boba teas. For a full size boba tea, sometimes I'll make two batches to have a stronger flavor, but other times, I leave it with just one of these containers plus water and sweeten condensed milk. Depends on how much flavor I'm wanting that day. If I'm using this as a base for just a hot cup of matcha on the go, then one shaker plus hot water is perfect for my matcha cup. It is easy to use, fill the hot water up to the line, add 2g of powder, put on the lid, shake 20-ish times. For such a simple design, it works really well to mix up the powder thoroughly without clumps. The reason it gets four stars instead of five is because the lid doesn't always seal well. If there is a single drop of water on the rim before you close the lid or you don't get it lined up exactly perfect, then it leaves a little spatter pattern when you're shaking (see the photo). However, when the rim is perfectly dry and you get the lid perfectly seated, it is drip free. So to that is fiddly. Additionally, the logo is just a clear sticker. For me, that's actually a plus because I didn't want the logo. But it does make it look cheap if you keep the sticker on. Read more
