I've been using a free thunderbolt dock to connect my Chromebook plus to my tv and another monitor for a multi-display work station. I was fully convinced it was a limitation of the Chromebook that was keeping it capped at 4K@30hz. After some research with a helpful chatbot, I was able to determine it was most likely the dock. I had purchased a cheaper version of this same cable (USBC to HDMI) from another seller, but it had the same limitation. I trust UGREEN makes quality products at a fraction of the cost, so I figured I'd try it. Sure enough it unlocked 4K@60hz which makes my 4K tv way more usable as an external display. Good product, works, but 1 star off for the dingle end being so long as to not work with my Asus monitors. Good for anything with plenty of space. Just something to be aware of. The 4k version is about 1cm shorter. Read more

Cable worked great for a few weeks then noticed the display would randomly cut to no video. Went to check the connection at the back of the monitor and it was fairly hot, not “cook an egg” hot, but enough to make me question if this could melt the plastic or start a fire. Oddly worked fine for 8+ hours a day with my Dell work laptop but connected with my 2025 MacBook Air, it would be okay for about 1-2 hours, then the screen would cut out for a few minutes. That’s when I noticed the HDMI connector was really hot. I’m assuming it has some sort of thermal protection built into it to stop it from overheating further but I’ve never experienced that with a cable before. I’ve since switched over to the CableMod version with 0 issues. While I’m normally a fan of UGreen products, this one could have cost me an entire monitor had I not noticed.
