Under Armour Mens Ignite Pro 8 Slide Sandal

I’ve only had these slides for about a week, but they’re already hands-down the most comfortable slides I’ve ever worn. The footbed has just the right amount of cushioning and support, soft without feeling mushy, and it instantly takes pressure off your feet the moment you step into them. The strap is smooth and well-padded, so there’s no rubbing or digging in, even when wearing them for longer periods around the house or out running quick errands. They also feel solid and well-made, not flimsy like a lot of cheap slides. Whether you’re using them as recovery sandals, house shoes, or just something to throw on when you step outside, these absolutely nail it. I have had these a few months, so enough now to write a review. These shoes have several versions and I have purchased the last 3 models. So the 6, 7, and 8 model. (I actually have 2 of the 6's.) I originally found this brand and (earlier) model after having foot surgery. I had never bought any slides before and didn't think I would like the style of shoe. I like sandals in general. But I had the #6 overnighted to allow me to walk without pain in my foot. And it worked so well I ordered another pair a couple months later. Ever since then I look to see when they upgrade the model and I buy them and try them out. So to these particular model, the #8's. They are similar to the #7's in that they have a dimpled footbed, with the same gel-like padding. The difference is the padding is slightly softer, taller and the overall shoe height is noticeably taller. Overall I like them and am wearing them everyday around the house. However, compared to the #7s, My foot can slide out of them easier, and because they are taller it can make your balance off. They #7's had a bit of curve to the footbed and it wouldn't slide around as much, plus the texture on those wore off quickly so it made them a bit less slippery. The texture of the footbed is closer to the #6's, which was a slightly slippery clothlike too. (Although they had a foam padding.) I give 5 stars not lightly, but I do because they are very comfortable like the 2 predecessors. And are always inexpensive. The velcro makes it easy to put on an injured or sore foot. They aren't the best materials nor are they particularly long-lived, but I've not found any slides or sandals that are as comfy around the house. I can tell they are trying to refine these, because they are using elements of the past shoes and changing them and adding them to this one. I really wanted these to work. The moment I slid them on the first time, I was amazed at how comfortable the sole cushion was. Unfortunately after a couple days of daily use, the top strap was as uncomfortable as could be, digging into the tops of my feet. And I can't loosen them too much or they flop around making it really easy for your heel to fall off the edge since they're so narrow. I debated whether to attach a photo of the red marks on the tops of my feet I get from wearing these with the straps at a normal tightness. The problem isn't really the strap tightness so much as it is the design of the strap, where the bottom strap is short and has hard edges that curve into the foot. If the bottom part of the velcro strap were made longer, that might fix the problem. That brings me to the second flaw: They're too narrow. I don't usually need a wide shoe but these are narrower than usual. As a result, even with the straps tight, my heel falls off the side of the shoe and the sandal rotates around my foot, scraping even more against the tops of my feet. And it's such an uncomfortable thing for your heel to fall 2 inches off the cushion onto the hard floor, especially if you have back problems. To fix this, just make them wider. The third and final flaw is that they run way too small in length. I take a 10-10.5 men's but the size 12 was the only length that would fit my foot so that my toes don't hike forward off the sandal when I walk. To fix this, just make them longer. Others have noted these run small. So in short, these sandals are 1. Too short, 2. Too narrow, and 3. Have too uncomfortable of a strap probably because the bottom strap is too short. The only positive is the cushioned sole. For me, these are just not worth it. Deceptively uncomfortable because they don't fit a human foot properly, yet draw you in at first with their comfortable bottom cushion. I've never had issues with other brands of sandal slides for years before. This is just poor design for an item of clothing that is meant to be worn. Under Armor needs to go back to the drawing board with these! And at the very least, they should fix these 3 issues, which as I explain above would be easy to do. Every flaw honestly seems like an effort to save material and cost, but it's at the expense of the customer. Read more
