Initially, I thought paper is paper but not really. I originally bought the Amazon basic paper pads and they are thinner sheets of paper and held together with glue instead of a binding with perforation like Universal writing pads. I really disliked the way Amazon basic paper pad used the glue because they came unhinged when I was flipping the paper to take notes on the back. So, I have a stack of paper from Amazon that I don't like and will give to my kids to draw on. I will definitely buy more of Universal writing pads because the paper is thicker and it really makes writing on it smoother. This is especially true if you have a nice pen to write with, the notes look really good. So, I like this brand, but I wish it was a little cheaper but, it said that it was made in America? If so, I would like to support people who have jobs here. But price is slightly an issue, however the product is sooo nice. Read more

These writing tablets contain heavy weight paper, wide ruled. I believe they're perfect for most handwritten purposes. The page tore cleanly from the top of the pad as well, when I wanted to remove it. I'm very pleased with my selection. Read more

My co-workers swear by this tablet. It is the only tablet that is a nice thick paper and tears perfectly along the perforation vs leaving behind small pieces or ripping the top of the paper. The price is good too! Read more

I use these pads for everything at home and work. I never even thought much about them. When I could not find them at my local Staples or Wal-Mart store, just did not have any at all, I looked on Amazon, and read several reviews about these that mentioned quality of the paper and ease of ripping the a page off the pad. These are good quality writing pads that would have received a 5* rating but the perforation is not consistent. Several of the pads in the pack had virtually no perforation or they were only partially perforated at the top, the remaining pads in the pack were perfectly perforated. Other than that exception, the quality of the paper is great, heavy smooth paper makes writing a pleasure. The pad is backed with a heavy cardboard. The lines are not too dark. Read more

So I have a thing for office supplies. I love them. I like to browse them on Amazon when I am bored. These are my favorite legal pads. The paper is not thin janky crap. Has a nice weight to it. Pen doesn't bleed through. Pages dont curl as much as the cheaper alternatives. They are pricey and I have a personal hatred for the manufacturer, but, for this price point, probably the best you can get. Read more

This Universal writing pad has good quality paper and pens write very well on it. What will prevent me from buying this again is the perforations. The perforations at the top of each sheet are low quality and do not tear cleanly. You will get a few pages that tear cleanly but half or more pages do not and you end up with torn paper areas that build up at the top part of each pad. Perforations are not difficult to do well on good machinery. This utterly fails. Not recommended. There is no excuse for this in 2023. Not sure where these were manufactured but my guess is China. No way should this product have as many high reviews as it has on Amazon. Read more
