These remotes work really well — until they don’t. They require no setup for Samsung TVs, other than inserting batteries. But… They tend to start having odd problems after a few years. One just had one button that simply stopped working. The one we are replacing suddenly began turning the TV off and on continuously until we removed its batteries. I needed this remote because although I have the original remote to a 2017 samsung TV, that tV does not have a source button. Why is that important? Because the samsung TV is being replaced- it is on life support- the TV turns on but it takes "forever" to load so you can see something on screen (sometimes not at all, sometimes it decides to appear after at least a. half hour. So a new TV is arriving soon. In the meantime I want to use the 2017 TV as an extra screen for other projects, which is why I needed a remote with a source button so I can still use that screen for apple TV and other devices. That's the background. What surprised me: the simple set up. No codes, no searching. You press the power button and it works. My assumption is that even with a dark screen I can use the remote to change the source. What's not so clear- what the button is for prime video, netflix or hulu but I'm assuming that whatever is connected to the TV can get there with the source button. We'll see.. Read more
