Up to this point I've just used the headset assembly that came with my Quest 2, and I've been happy enough with it. Here are some observations about this new replacement: - First of all, it's noticeably more comfortable than the previous setup. I don't know if this is related to the padding, the shape, or the fact that there is an articulation point that allows for a better fit. Either way, it's not just more comfortable, but the snug fit improves the viewing experience. Previously the display would look a little blurry until I spent some time maneuvering and tightening the headset. That problem seems to have been eliminated. - Next, the headset includes a battery, which helps keep the device charged when in use. Previously the onboard battery was sometimes drained when I went to use it, and expect this problem may have been eliminated too. - I was a little concerned that having a battery built into the headband would make the whole thing feel heavier, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Overall, the headset just seems more comfortable, and I don't notice any extra weight or discomfort due to the battery. So this is a win-win, insofar as I get more charge and more comfort at the same time. It was pretty easy to remove the old head-strap and replace it with this one. Everything was provided, including a small screwdriver to replace the side connection buckles with ones suitable for the Quest 2. One suggestion for improvement would be to increase the size of the instruction manual, to make the illustrations a little easier to see. No reason for tiny instructions. There's a little button on the headset, and it occurs to me that I don't know what it's for. Maybe it's a power button. The manual doesn't bother saying anything about it, so maybe I can ignore it. One unfortunate consequence of this upgrade was that the new headset arrangement didn't fit into my travel case. However, as illustrated in my attached photos, I was able to get it to fit by removing the small plastic obtrusion at the back - the piece that connects to the carry strap. If you decide to do this, you can cut out this little plastic nub with a little effort, and the aid of a pocket knife. Read more

This accomplished 2 issues my son had with his Christmas present, his Meta3 - - one was that the headstrap that came with didn't fit his head very well. It would move around on his head. This is adjustable, allowing the weight of the headset in front to be offset by tightening the back, preventing the headset from moving around. It's much more comfortable than the initial design and you can customize the fit depending on who is using the VR. The other thing this accomplishes is battery life extension - it adds a minimum of 90 minutes of additional game play. It's a separate battery pack that needs to be plugged in to charge, in addition to the Meta battery, but as the Meta battery starts to drain, this will drip charge that battery, which extends the life. The strap also connects to the VR with a hinged connection, which makes taking off and putting on, much easier. It's also super easy to set up - takes just a few minutes to attach to your Meta. Using this with my Quest 3S, and it’s a solid upgrade from the default strap. Setup was easy, and the whole fit feels much more balanced and comfortable—no more headset sliding down my face mid-game. The tightening mechanism alone makes it worth it. Way better than wrestling with the soft straps every time. Just twist the knob, and you’re locked in and good to go. The built-in battery adds a few extra hours of play, which is great, though it doesn’t show up as a battery in the interface—you’ll need to check the LED indicators on the back. The flip-up hinge is also a nice touch, especially if you want to take a quick real-world break without fully removing the headset. This works great! Allows for an extra 4-6 hrs of constant play on my Quest 3. It has some weight to it, but helps balance the weight of the headset. The adjustment strap is perfect for quick changes when playing with others. Quick install with precise directions on just how to do it. I have dropped it a couple times and it seems to keep on working fine, so it is pretty durable also. Best part is the price. You won't find one like this for even close to the price. Read more

This head strap is great! It's available with and without a battery. I'd recommend getting the non-battery version though. The problem with the battery is that it can't charge the headset very quickly. (You'll get a warning that the headset is "charging slower than normal".) So it adds a little life to the headset, but not much. The headset battery will die long before the battery in the strap will die. Plus, there's no "passthrough charging", so you need to charge the headset and the strap separately. I tried different USB cables to see if the included cable was keeping it from charging faster, but that was not the case. So save some money and get the version without the battery. Read more
