I live in a modern condominium, and one reason I do is that I like newer technology. I have so many power outlets in my house I'd have a hard time counting them. My needs electronically are for both general home activities and work, since I work from home. On that note, with so many devices, it seems like I'm always in need of hubs to make use of the limited ports I have in each of my laptops. This smaller but sturdy one seemed like a no-brainer to add to my collection, so I put it to the test. In the majority of my reviews, products start out with five stars. I deduct stars for each characteristic that could be considered universally unfavorable. I've given this product five stars. Let me explain: Pros: - An incredibly versatile 8-in-1 design that gives you a 4 K HDMI port, multiple data ports, and extra power input. - Delivers sharp and stable 4 K at 60 Hz visuals, which makes extending displays or doing light video editing a breeze. - Features 6 high-speed 5 Gbps data ports (2 USB-C and 4 USB-A) to easily connect all your peripherals at once. - Has a dedicated DC 5 V external power input to ensure stable connections without dropouts during heavy use. - The durable aluminum alloy enclosure provides excellent heat dissipation and keeps it running cool and safely protected. Note: I have the 5-port model, which may not be available anymore? This is a pretty nice little USB hub. The shell is made of aluminum, and while it doesn't have that super premium feel like a MacBook, it's really durable and feels like it could last a long time. Likewise, the ports feel really stable and anchored well, so I'm not too worried that they'll snap or start shorting out. One thing that I find interesting, even if it's probably not, is that there aren't any LEDs on this hub. Frankly, I'm very happy about that because I don't like the light pollution, especially if I have all the lights off in the room besides my monitor. It can be very disruptive having a bright LED off to the side trying to invade my line of sight. As I mentioned earlier, I have the 5-port model, which is 1x USB-C, 3x USB-A 3.0, and 1x USB-A for charging only. I assume the charging port only exists because there probably wasn't enough bus bandwidth to support another 3.0 port. I would have preferred to switch another of those type A ports to a type C port, but there may be technical reasons why that's unrealistic. I haven't done any performance testing to check speeds under max load, but so far I haven't noticed any perceivable slowdowns, so it seems good enough. Read more
