Didn’t Work on My Monitor, Still Useful

I originally bought this to clamp onto my monitor, but that didn’t work out. My monitor is curved and I couldn’t get it to sit securely. I ended up mounting it under my desk instead, which still works fine. I tested it with a USB 3.0 flash drive and didn’t notice any difference in speed compared to plugging directly into my PC. Haven’t tested a bunch of devices at once yet, but I’d expect it to behave like any other hub and split bandwidth across whatever you have plugged in. It’s simple, the ports are easy to get to, and having both USB-A and USB-C up front is convenient. The aluminum casing feels sturdy and solid. The threading on the screw is a nice touch and definitely made tightening easy. My favorite thing about this was the included Dual-Compatible 2-in-1 Cable. I don't know why. The cable itself is on the thicker end, so I imagine that it'll hold up fairly well, especially if you don't plan on plugging/unplugging your hub repeatedly. There's a dedicated USB-C 5V2A power input that I recommend you use with a separate power adapter if you plan on having several devices plugged in at the same time. Just make sure you actually have somewhere flat to clamp it. If you’re using a curved monitor, this probably isn’t going to work the way you expect. Read more

Only for flat edged monitor

Decent product just would not fit my monitor since the edges are rounded. Read more

Great for Extra USB Ports, But Not for Curved Monitors or Docking

This clamp is great for extending USB ports if you have multiple devices that connect via USB - it does that job well. However, there are some important limitations to be aware of. First, it is NOT a good item if you have a curved monitor. The clamp is designed for flat edges, and trying to attach it to a curved monitor simply doesn’t work well - it won’t grip securely or sit flush. If you can’t clamp it to your monitor and end up having it sit on the desk instead, that kind of defeats the purpose of having a clamp-style hub in the first place. Second, this is NOT a docking station. It won’t charge your laptop, connect you to multiple displays, or provide Ethernet connectivity. It’s simply a USB hub that gives you additional USB ports for peripherals like keyboards, mice, flash drives, etc. If you’re looking for a full docking solution with video output and laptop charging, this isn’t it. The 5Gbps data transfer speed is good, and having both USB-A and USB-C ports is convenient. The extra power supply port is helpful for devices that need more power. I wish it actually came with a charging cord though. Just make sure you have a flat-edged monitor or desk space to clamp it to, and understand it’s just a port expander, not a full docking station. Solid aluminum construction, good quality electronics, perfect performance

My computer is mounted in a 19-inch rack about 10 steps from my desk, so getting to the USB ports is a little inconvenient. I do have two USB 3.0 ports on the back of my monitor, but it is a large wide screen curved monitor so they are difficult to get to. I tried sitting a USB hub on the desk, but it was just in the way, so I resorted to a long USB F-F extension cable that I wrapped around the monitor stand. Enter this neat USB 3.0 hub that clamps to the bezel of the monitor. I was almost ready to give this hub a bad review because it wouldn't clamp to my curved monitor. I'm sure it would fit a regular flat screen with no problem, but my monitor has a very thick curved bezel. With a max opening of 1.2 inches, this hub just didn't open wide enough, but it was very close. The clamping screw has a silicone pad on it that can slightly tilt and it compresses a little. I finally had success by fully opening the clamp and then carefully sliding the hub onto the bezel from the side, all the while keeping pressure on the bottom and back to ensure the hub was tight against the bottom of the bezel. With that technique, the silicone pad tilted and compressed enough to make a tight fit and ensured that it didn't slide off while I worked it into place. Basically, the hub is now on there with a compression fit. It looked tenuous at first, but it is on there very solid now. Okay, so how does it work? I plugged in a Samsung USB drive and ran some throughput tests. The results were virtually identical whether the drive was plugged into the hub or directly into a USB 3.0 port on my computer (see image). It is very convenient to now have three USB-A ports and one USB-C port on the front of my monitor. There is even a 5V/2A USB-C power jack on the back of the hub if you need to add more power to the bus. I don't feel like I should deduct a full star because of the trouble I had clamping it onto an oversized monitor with a drastically curved bezel. Clamping it onto a normal flat screen shouldn't be any trouble at all, and the hub works great, for normal USB 3.0 devices at 5 Gbps. If those specs fit your needs, and they do for 100% of my USB peripherals, then this hub is a great option. I am happy to give it 4.5 stars, and round it up to 5. Read more

Can be good for lower bandwidth devices. Total 2A for the 4 ports.

I like these. There are 3 USB 3.0 "A" type and 1 USB "C" type connector on the front. On the back it's an orange colored USB "A" type connector to distribute the signals into your PC. The power is from a rear mounted USB "C" port that gives dedicated power. I think it best to use external to your PC or laptop power source. It's not like the powered unit will supply 1amp to each USB port. But it helps. (I think it's near 2A total). But dedicated ports help manage the data flow. I could not get high bandwidth devices working together, but not many need 3 USB cameras going. But for thumb drives and mouse, keyboard these should be fine imo. It's held in place on the lip of a monitor, or the end of a desk or even thicker item with a thumbscrew that holds well. All the electrical components are internal to the all metal device. Meaning, no exposed wires to accidentally pull loose. It's actually a clever job of its engineering. Read more
