As a side sleeper I always want the shoulder cut out like this pillow has, so that's why I started looking at this one. But the four separate one inch stackable foam slats is awesome. I often have difficulty sleeping with new pillows and will customize by stacking a bunch of randoms to get the right support. This was the right stack of pillows, right away. Perfect height for me is using all four. Each little slat has its own pillowcase case to keep them clean and not sticking together. The MAIN pillowcase itself is also nice. The "cool" side and "hot" sides really do feel differently from each other. I slept on it night one and got a great sleep. No funny smells. I could not be happier with this choice. Read more

I love this pillow!....I enjoy a firm pillow. Always have. A few years ago, I purchased a pillow at a mattress store with the cut out for the side sleeper's "shoulder". Any other pillow doesn't allow for the shoulder to do anything except crunch forward which throws the arm in an inward position as a side sleeper. That pillow was $128 at the time (probably more now). This reasonably priced pillow also has the center cut to accommodate the shoulder and is soooo comfy. I love the dense memory foam. Now look inside the zipper cover and you will find the memory foam "slices" are all encased in fabric! Something my expensive pillow didn't have. You can take a slice out if you find the pillow is too high or too firm, or place a "slice or two" back in. Whatever is to your liking! I love this. I took a slice out and the pillow is perfect! I feel this is a wonderful pillow and the price is right for the quality you get! I highly recommend this pillow. Read more
I've been on an eternal quest for a side-sleeper pillow that works for me for the past decade. From traditional polyester, to down alternative (i'm allergic to down), to memory foam fill, to straight memory foam and other's in-between. One seems to be good for a few weeks and then my neck and back tell me it's no longer good. Anyway, on to my review... Pillow delivered as advertised and when removed from the package fills to size almost instantly. Comes with the 4 panels of one-inch thick encased memory foam. Also comes with zippered pillow case with one side for cool sleeping. After some experimentation, I needed to remove 1 panel of memory foam for my preference. I used only the pillow case that was shipped. I slept great for 3 months!! My spine was more aligned when i slept which help me to wake up with far-less neck and back aches! For the past month, I've been noticing that either the fabric of the pillow case is losing its rigidity or the individual panels of memory foam are starting to soften ever so slightly that the panels aren't staying as tightly stacked in the neck area (picture more like a slight stairway effect in the neck area). This led me to add the 4th panel of memory foam. This helped re-align the neck area but added 1 inch more height to my pillow. This adjustment worked for about 2 weeks but now my pillow is "staircasing" again. It seems that the pillow case has indeed stretched slightly allowing for movement of the panels. My aches have returned sporadically since. This pillow is definitely firm yet comforting enough to cushion my head. I use the cooling side of the pillow case because if I lay the cooling side down on my bed sheets, the pillow slips during sleep. I've come to appreciate the cooling side for its ability to moderate my neck temperature. I wish the zippered case would hold it's form longer to prevent memory foam panel slippage. I might try washing and drying the case to see if that tightens it back up a bit. This is a great pillow for the price and really had been improving my sleep for a few months. The dilemma I'm facing is whether or not to purchase a new one of these pillows (price has increased by $5 since August 2024) or to start from scratch and go back to sampling pillows. Read more
This is my third purchase of this pillow, I need a different amount of support for my neck, so being able to take out the layers and customize it is everything for my sleep quality. I have straight neck, and have to be level from hip to shoulder to neck, or I have pain. The pillow is a great price, I have paid alot more for pillows I had to throw out. It's also the right size and very supportive. There was just a slight odor at first, but goes away quickly. Read more
I am a side sleeper, so I got this pillow to help with my comfort while sleeping. I made adjustments to what felt most comfortable by taking out a layer, then I eventually took another layer out after waking up one morning with bad neck pain. The pillow support was great for the first few weeks of use, but eventually I ended up with sore neck muscles consistently. I'm now going back to using the pillow I had before. Read more
While I order quite a bit on Amazon I have never submitted a review, until now. I pay attention to reviews before I purchase a product. When I checked the reviews I saw that is pillow was often returned and wondered why? I think it might be because purchasers are impatient and don't give this pillow a fair chance. What is most important to realize is that this pillow can be customized! It took me a few days, but after experimenting with a few of the suggested customizations I discovered, that even though I am a side sleeper, the customizing for the belly sleeper works best for me.
