Firstly, this lighter does its job well. We use it to light our fireplace from a safe distance. There is a switch and a button. No matter which way the switch is pressed, it allows you to use the button for about 8 seconds. Then the arc turns off and you have to flip the switch the other way. Sometimes it takes a little longer for the gas to reach the end of the pipe and by that time your button turns off. This is the only reason I did not give it five stars. Otherwise works well. I bought this at the end of last season and it worked for several fires. Tried to use it again for the first fire of this season and it’s dead. Won’t take a charge. Light does not come on no matter how long I leave it plugged in. It’s a waste of money. Read more

Fancy fireplace lighter you can stand to side to light natural gas pipe. I like the extendabiliry of this lighter. No flame, uses an arc, and will light anything for burning. The switch is great, move it until blue light appears, there is no shut off...it turns itself off. Easy to charge, and holds a long charge. Definitely worth the price. We purchased this as an expedient way to light our gas grill while we searched for a replacement igniter module. It's ability to extend up to 2.5 feet enabled us to safely reach down into the grill to light each burner safely without getting our faces or limbs too close in case too much gas ignited and belched flame at us. Now that we have found a new igniter module for the grill, this will be a handy backup as well as come in as a better way to ignite our gas fire pit than using matches. Just be careful when extending it. If you do it too abruptly or forcefully, you may pull it apart and damage it too much to put it back together. Read more
