This Digital Torque Screwdriver is just the tool if you need to tighten fasteners in delicate materials or precision assemblies. It seems to be very accurate and is very responsive. It comes with an good selection of bits, including Philips and straight screwdrivers, hex bits, torx bits, and a 100mm extender. It all comes in a protective case that has slots for everything and locks closed securely. I really like the 6 customizable presets, and the ultra-fine adjustments to 0.01 of whatever measurement system you are using. There are two readout styles depending on your needs, either tracking your torque as you use it, or peak. The digital readout is clear and easy to read if it is facing you, and the audible readouts are well implemented when it isn’t (more on that below). There is also a handy lock function so you don’t inadvertently change your setting, just hold the ‘M’ button for 3 seconds. HOWEVER, there are a few things that are not optimal, IMO. First, and most importantly, there is not a ratcheting function. This seems so ‘last century.’ It is certainly inconvenient and more difficult in use, but especially problematic here. Because as you turn the screwdriver, the display will rotate away from you, leaving only the audible signals to guide you. Also to be noted is that the display does not rotate, so in many situations you will have to read it upside-down. Then there is the battery compartment. It would be great if it were rechargeable, but to access the AAA batteries you must use a screwdriver to remove two tiny screws, and hope you don’t lose them. If you use the tool only occasionally and would prefer to remove the batteries while not in use, this is an inconvenience.
